LOL! Even the king of the Bullitt site drag racers, Terry H., would have to go back to Brenspeed for a few more bolt-ons. His best a 10.3....

Yea, 10 second 1/4 mile is serious fast. There is one member of our local club that has a Grand National turbo V-6 in his El Camino. The rear fenders are slightly tubbed and with race rubber he can do a 12. It is very streetable and drivable but I bet he spent 20 grand just on his black paint job.

I bet with a better driver, the car would have an even better time.

1001 HP and an ungodly price tag attached it isn't that quick.

It's probably not really good at anything, except perhaps being nothing but a very expensive dyno racer...

Seems to be a disturbing trend towards that these days.....

There was a local guy here that ran 10.7 in his street legal Chevelle. Normally aspirated small block slightly tubbed. 3500 rpm stall converter made it sound like he didn't know how to drive though. So I think you could get close with your El Camino if you want to sacrifice a little mileage.

Of course the Chevelle weighs half a ton less than the Veyron.

LSX corvettes are routinely quicker than that.... I also have a good friend who has cracked 10's in an all steel 350 Nova with 4:11's no bottle and no tubs. Just ET tires- and another buddy in a gutted out 70 camaro with an iron head 383 who pulls 10's too...

10's is a function of traction, which the Veyron has, but doesn't launch as hard as a rear-wheel-drive car with weight transfer and some "slip"

The 140mph trap speed, however, is pretty impressive and is a function of 1000+ hp

I still would rather not carry around all the weight a Veyron has. I guess thats why two of my cars are under 2500 pounds. The Cobra will run under 12 seconds with just over 400hp/435ft but I don't know what the '71 911 will do. Both would be more fun on a track i would think.

For that price tag it had damn well better have some technology goin on.

That's not a track car, it's a conversation piece. A tribute to excess.

Considering the number of ridiculously fast stock cars out there these days, have the drag strips become more lenient with regards to the sub-12 second rollcage rule?
