This above is the question you asked. This is the question I and others were attempting to answer.

My answer to myself - Buy another porsche.
This was your answer. I interperted this to mean you were thinking of doing this. I didn't read it that you already did this.

It's been a long week. Sorry for the misinterpertation.

If you guys think any of this is even remotely logical or coherent, reread "Jack Olsen Envy."

Boy was that a great month.

I've tried that, it catches up quick!

"Marky - Slow down take a breath, read my post again. Tell me where I asked for advice. Because I cant see it. In fact I didnt ask for advice." -BigB

Oh? So you just wanted to brag then? I've known closely of two lottery winners in my life. One was just as broke when the 20 year annuity ran out as before he won...a $5.5 million pot. The other (a $3.4 million pot) took a community college course on money management...learned about high risk and low to no risk investments, learned the difference between "high yield" (Junk) bonds and municipal bonds, learned about index funds, closed or open end, load or no load mutual funds, GNMAE. and a host of other options. $20K or $200K per year, or even more...doesn't really bring happiness. The happiness comes from carefully managing what you have. BigB...I wish you well, I sincerely do. But in today's world? $100K isn't all that much to buy happiness with...perhaps a reasonable facsimile, for a short while. Sincerely..check out the local community college for courses on basic money management...the tuition might be the best money you can spend...In my own personal situation? Right now? After the taxman stole his percentage of a $100K win? Well, I might switch the $ from GNMAE to a good municiple bond fund...might not, depending on the tax ramifications, which would need some research. Sincere advice, even though you're not asking for any..take a community college money management course. What you might learn can't hurt you....and it just might help.

"The more money an American accumulates, the less interesting he becomes"--Gore Vidal

"He has not acquired a fortune, the fortune has acquired him"--Bion

Brian993 04-05-2002 07:14 PM

Zeke do you even own a 911?

Zeke 04-05-2002 07:34 PM

BigP. As I've stated before in posts to other threads, I owned a'77 S Targa for 15 years and sold it a while back. Had a '60 356B for a short while two years ago. I didn't think that current ownership of a 911 was a prerequisit for joining in on discussions on this board, just an interest in the model and the marque. If any of you feel otherwise, I'll be glad to step aside.

As far as I can determine, discussions are just that. I hope no one takes any of this too seriously. All technical talk would not have the general interest that this board provides. From pictures of engines to advice on wax to announcements of upcomming events, there is a little something for all. And a little sillyness from time to time. Hell, I'm just practicing my punctuation.

Brian993 04-05-2002 07:37 PM

I take it serious Zeke. REAL SERIOUS

Gore vidal had LOTS of bucks. Don't know about Bion (?) PWD doesn't. Many on this board would be shocked at how little I do live on, while still living well. The message I tried to convey was the good management of money...not the worship of or greed for it. Sorry I didn't explain that well enough...

I can see that it is time for a new forum: Self-deleted OT rant threads by BigB. :D

Darn, missed this one.

But, I hope there is something more to it than I can divine from what remains in the tread. Because it looks like it involves winning $90K in Vegas.

If that is that case, ummm, big deal. You'll get a 1099 and that is $45K after taxes. Nice, no doubt, and better than a sharp stick in the eye, but its not really a large enough amount to really matter (IMO) what you do with it.
