OK is this a true story? If it is I wish I had your problems :D , I know that I would be more than happy to take one of the problems of your hands. If that would make your decision easier.

You need a lot more information in your post before anyone can really help you, if it really is help that you want.

Much better advice could be given if we knew a little more about you, your family, and your financial status. Things like how old you are, how close are you to retirement, wife, kids, etc.

You obviously must have somewhat of a decent income if you own a 911 and a '00 Boxster. Unless you won the money for those too.

If you have enough money to retire today (even if you don't want to) with enough in your 401k to live comfortably, then do whatever makes you happy. You wouldn't be the first one to own three Porsches.

If you "depend" on your job at this point in time, I would invest the 90k and retire that much sooner. If you're already retired, do whatever makes you happy.

Good Luck.

You lucky son of a gun!

Any chance you would like to lend (donate) a poor college student some money to get his Porsche looking presentable? :D

Sucks to be you, man. Nice work on the tables - let me know next time you are going, OK?

With $90K of found money I'd buy a cherry 993 widebody, or a cherry 73 RS [Lightweight or Touring - they only made 55 of the race-ready RSR version]. Two very different but really sweet cars that deliver the fresh-squeezed Porsche juice by the bucket.
Once I found the car, I'd sell your 'like' car - the Boxster if I got the 993, or the 74 if it was the 73RS screamer. Best of both worlds, man - gotta love it.

Hang on - just saw your later post. Though you had two Pcars THEN hit the tables. Forget this then.
Right about the addiction though...there are much nastier jags than this one.

Fantastic!

Life is short-Have fun. If you have taken care of all your responsibilities, the mortgage, the kids, etc. , then it's time to take care of yourself. 2 or 3 nice cars is not reckless and irresponsible. It sounds like FUN!

"My decisions have all been made though." Big BPaintar

Then, ask I, with sincerely no malice...why did you ask the question???

davis911s 04-05-2002 06:03 PM

If it were me and I was financially stable and came across that kind of "free" money. I would donate a bunch to all the great guys here on the board to help with thier cars, keep everyone on a level playing field.

Seriously like Mark Y said more info is needed. But is the money gone already for the 00 Boxster? I would make the 74 into a track car and keep the boxster for the road, or even keep those two and build a track car.

Well, I can't tell you what to do with the money. As you already know, we all have opinions on how to spend our money. You have to do what feels right for you.

Here's what I would do if it was me.

I would pay off as much debt as possible. Credit cards, house, etc. That would in turn leave more play money in the pocket every month. That play money could then be used on investments, porsche, etc.

I look at it this way...why do we need money each month? To pay bills and eat. If you didn't have any bills each month, how much money would you really need to live off of and have some fun with. Probably alot less than you think.

Get debt free and retire early. Then....all of your money is for toys...like the cars.

Why are you asking for anyones opinion?
Thought you were the "stand alone guy" who needed nothing from no one.

Only you know how to live your life and spend your money.

Me? I'm the guy on the "Where are they now" TV lottery show standing outside my trailer. "What did you do with all that money?" they ask.
"Drugs and whores".
Boy was that a great month.

Don't feel guilty for even one minute.

I have been cursed with being overly "practical" all my life. At Christmas last year my best friend gave me his beautiful '83 911. He said he knew I would never get one for myself. Guess what? I'm cured of this practicality thing! I wouldn't part with my 911 for anything in the world, and there's a damn good chance I'll buy a second one in a year or two!

So this was my chance. I have to be honest, I would like to keep the Boxster for a year or two, sell it and keep on with the 911. Its to old for a daily driver, short trips and quick blasts for a lifetime though. I would like to hang on to it if my wife will let some time pass and forget about selling it (911).
Why in the hell are you asking for advice / opinions on what to do with the 90k if you've already spent the money?

This whole post is starting to sound goofy.
