Architect's advice needed
I'm designing a house for myself on a narrow (45'X150') lot. I have a proposed 2-car garage in the backyard, with a 10-foot wide driveway down the right side of the house. The distance from the house to the garage is 29.7'. If you draw a perpendicular line from the garage to the house, and then to the back-right corner of the house, that distance is 14 feet.
I set out some cones with this configuration, and couldn't back a car out from the left bay without hitting the corner of the house. But I've seen houses built with tighter specs. I tried with the Westy, which has a very tight turning radius. Am I missing something? What are the minimum feasible distances for this setup, while still having a comfortable experience while backing out?
