anyone carrying a ZERO TOLERANCE pocketknife?

been thinking of buying another pocketblade. another folder. been eyeballing another Benchmade. the new Axis assist knives are super cool. gentle push with the thumb and the blade comes rocketing out under it's own power. really cool!!

(why are we obsessed with fast opening blades anyways?).

i came across the ZT blades. they look cool and are really different from any Benchmade i own. i would need to mail order one..never seen one in person. any good?

They are high quality knives made by Kershaw. Kershaw has some of the best customer service in the business; I recommend their USA-made stuff (the entire ZT line) unreservedly.

I really, really, really, like my:

SOG Spec Elite II Auto Knife...

Really!

But I don't carry it... and I wish I had bought more than one because they have gone up in price.

I've never heard of them but I do own two US made Kershaw knives and have been very happy with them.

Looks like an interesting knife. I haven't heard of that brand. If you like that style, you'll like this. Military Gerber 06 automatic.

Or check out the Buck Rush assisted.

3 kershaws here. not one complaint.

edited to add. actually 1 complaint, the spring assisted opening on one has become "loose." I'm told you can send it in for repair/replacement but i don't want to part with it for that long. As far as i'm concerned that's a good "complaint." Also check amazon.com picked up the second for 40% off retail and free shipping.

Actually, that Case serpentine stockman you lost is probably the best daily carry knife.

The locking "wanna be a tough guy" knives are for kids, unless you are hunting or backpacking. Even then, the 3 bladed stockman will dress a deer or clean a trout...

If by loose you mean doesn't want to open at full force or won't fully open it's likely that the torsion spring has broken. I had that happen on one of my Leeks. You don't have to send it to Kershaw if you don't want to. Sometimes they will just send out a new knife. My Leek that broke was a gift. I didn't want to chance it. Anyway you can go to Kershaw's website and drop them an email telling them the parts you need. In my case the sent me a couple of torsion springs in the mail. In less than 10 minutes with a torx driver it was good as new.

As to the ZT folders. I've read nothing but good. I just ordered one earlier today. It'll be here tomorrow. Gotta love Amazon Prime.

I'll be curious to see how the ZT assist works. The Kershaws have a small steel torsion spring inside one of the liners; not much thicker than a 4/0 fish hook. They open with a click. I picked up a Benchmade Steigerwalt last year and the torsion spring is built from the heavy liner on both sides of the knife. It opens with a resounding THWACK. Much more robust mechanism than the Kershaws I have.

J

Had a lady friend give me a William Henry and boy, it sure is nice.

If you want a knife to keep next to your Rolex or Omega, this sure is one... and almost as nice as Bills hand-made versions!

William Henry co. makes nice "gent" knives. I have a B12 auto but for the price they're charging these days you can go full-on custom and have whatever you want made to order by one person.

The ZT is in a different class. Very solid, dependable folding knives that can be abused as well as used. I had a ZT0200 which was great (sold it for some stupid reason) and a ZT0301 that was a little too gimmicky for me. I prefer either an auto or a manual, not something in-between.

The 200, 350 and 550 are pretty popular with people who beat the hell out of their tools.

German automatic Boker's are very nice... if you can get your hands on one here but they are easy to get in europe. As expected, metalurgy is excellent especially the spring. Thirty years of use and still fast as new. The Boker safely locks closed and one finger unlocks, opens and locks it open. In reverse, one finger unlocks the open blade, you close it and it locks. Nice handmade piece available in any size.

I think my old knife is a Boker, but haven't used it in years. The handle is so smooth and the spring so strong, it's hard to hold onto when opening it. It's a nightstand knife now.

I'd like to get one like one above, with the serated edge.

Cheap knife, won't hold an edge, made by Taylor, marketed by Smith and Wesson, and I couldn't live without it. As a mechanic a pocket knife becomes a screwdriver, mini pry bar, wire stripper, thing cutter you name it. No spring assist but it opens with the the slightest flick of the wrist (and thumb over the lock) and is the only knife I carry (in my pocket)

Check out ABEL. They makes fishing reels but also has a nice knife, similar pricing. Smooth one handed action, very nice workmanship. They used to make a serrated but not certain they do anymore.

Very nice knives, I have several of this style, both manual and "assisted."

Go to a gunshow in Arizona and you will see these pretty often as they are legal for sale in this state.
