So I am cruising through the Ford dealership last night

I like to cruise through the used car section just to see what they have and what do I see in the row of used Mustangs? My goodness the uber rare Bullitt!!!!!!!!!! You can imagine my excitement being able to get up close and personal to a vehicle that most can only dream about or see in a magazine. My lowly 2012 V6 Mustang was quite jealous until I explained to it that she is only giving up 10hp (315 V8 compared to my 305hp V6). My heart is still a flutter this morning. Of course I managed to get a pic. If I didn't I know that no one would believe me!

I looked for a smiley that was yawning, but wasn't moved to greater effort.

Someone should snap this up. A Machen's Bullitt will be compared to a Yenko Camaro in the not-too-distant future.

I'm going to say what everyone is thinking - this just can't be, those are far too rare to just stumble across at a dealership . . .let alone being parked outside! --gotta be a photochop job.

(Bullitt green text implied)

Actually a 6 cyc with 305hp NA, that gets ~30 mpg hiway is the big story here.

I don't care who you are, that is amazing.

You want the figures?
Total # of '08-09 Bullitt Mustangs made 6,582
4,795 in Green, 1,607 Black

Mine's an '09 How many of those made?

629 Green
181 Black

Yep, now that the 400 plus horsepower 5.0's are out, you see 'em for sale. Not worth much, easily replaced. This I like compared to my old Porsche beater...

The '72 911S? Was very low on the P-car pecking order after the 911 Turbo came out...nobody really wanted one until the mid 1990's. There were 1750 911S coupes made during the 1972 model year.

I can park the Mustang anywhere, walk away without worry.

Cheap, handles well, adequate power, lots of comfort...what's not to like? Enjoy your P-cars guys...but I've BTDT. Even if I won a lottery, I wouldn't return to the P-car fold.

$21k seems like strong money on a used Musatng. Paul, is that price accurate for the current market?

Yep, pretty accurate consider the mileage of that one. Bullitts seem to sell for more than a GT with similar mileage and condition...

Like I said before, my Mustang can lose ALL it's value and I won't lose as much as the buyer of a new 911 variant loses the second he leaves the dealership. I paid $30,075 for the Bullitt new...that was licensed, all fees paid, out the door. For the ride I got, I consider that a bargain.

I get the impression that few here have actually driven a Bullitt Mustang. If they had, they might not be so quick to condemn one...

Oh yeah? I don't think so, and I've owned four P-cars and now a Mustang...

$30K new is cheap to me. Handles quite well, though because of weight not quite as well as my old suspension modded 2400 pound curb weight 911S did. Air that blows ice cubes, leather covered seating that was used in the GT500 of that year, 6 speaker stereo with CD player & ipod line in. Faster in a straight line than the old 911S was...roughly mid 13's in the quarter. As a driver, the Mustang has great overall balance. All this and the computer readout says I've averaged 20.4 mpg. I'd say "spirited" driving...my favored interstate cruise speed is 80-85...at a bit over 2,000 rpm. Redline is 6,500....same as many P-cars but I have two more cylinders.

On a 500 miles run, the 911S would leave me feeling beaten up...after 500 miles in the Mustang, I'm ready to play some pool for a few hours...

Sure, there are more expensive cars, and there are faster cars. There definitely are cars with more "staus".
Big deal....
