What do you guys/gals think about this stuff? I was never a believer, my ex gf used to go a few times a year, and I always thought it was sort of corny.
However, I had an encounter with an older lady in my early 20's that shook me up a little bit.
I was at the bar, and remember having a nice casual conversation with a grandmotherly lady for some time. My buddies kept razzing me about taking her home, but she was nice to talk to , and I sat with her for a while. At one point , she grabbed my hand and asked if I mind if she read my palm. I said sure , what the heck. There were some vague generalizations of course, but she talked of recent events in my life , that there was no way she could have known of. She also told me of what some of my future would look like.
Have not thought about this in a long time, but damn, she nailed some things to the tee. The kid , house and lady, sure , anybody could guess that a strapping lad such as myself would end up with a family, but what I always find erie is that she described my shop to a tee, quite some time before I had ever seen the place.
She told me of a large green building, with a row of tall pine trees in the front, one large garage door, and three small ones in the back. She told me , that this would be where I made my living. She also warned me of the trouble I would have with the authorities ( I battled the zoning office tooth, and nail for 2 years) Bingo.
Fwiw, it is worth, she never asked , or hinted for money from me.
Kind of makes you wonder no?

It is called a cold reading. Google it. Some people are very good at it. Penn & Teller are great. But Penn will tell you it is pure hookum and entertainment.

They are fun to visit if you have 30 minutes and $10 to blow. The predictions are pretty common for anyone. They make a living on stating the obvious in a way that seems to make it personal. They work off percentages. Everyone has a lost love, problems with an authority, heartache, a family member with a sickness, it goes on and on. Some good ones will read your expressions (or lack of) and adjust accordingly. They work of positive ques. It is really interesting and if you ever get a chance to date a gypsy she might just share some of her ways...only after she has sized your worth up and has planned her exist with some valuables. (thats a story for another day!)

I read my Chinese horoscope every morning. Do I do it because I think it can predict my future? No. But invariably it gives me things to think about that can be beneficial. For instance, from earlier this week:

"Important paperwork might need your attention today -- don't put it off. Spend some time this morning getting organized, as the rest of the week is bound to be busy. Double check your emails before hitting send, as a small oversight could land you in hot water."

Of course that is general and could apply to most anything. But being reminded to double-check emails before hitting send is actually a good thing. Could I just remember that on my own? Sure, but the reality is there are too many things rattling in my brain. That daily 10 second read gives me something to ponder that I can either act upon or not.

Think of it what you will, but one of my sisters is uncanny in her ability to 'know' where things are. I can remember going to her and asking, "Where is my....?" She would think for a moment then say something like:" On the top shelf of the closet in the porch." It was kind of neat.

My own 'weird thing' (among many) is guessing the sex of unborn children. For a number of years, when I heard of friends, co-workers or family 'expecting' I would just say, "Boy" or "Girl", whichever popped into my head. I was running a 90% accuracy. If I thought about it at all, I would mess up. Why this happened? I don't know.

Of course some would say my whole family is weird, but that's OK too.

Ok, here goes:
I'm guessing this happened 1981-82, my parents always listen to talk radio..There was a guess on giving people readings over the phone...All of us were listening in another room while my Mother was on the phone live with him..He just started talking without asking anything;

1) You recently had a dog that was poisoned, my mother said no, our next door neighbor had a dog die and said we poisoned him..He said no, your dog was poisoned...
2) There is a place in your backyard where your dogs eat the dirt at..
3) Your son, (me) is hanging around a large white building that he shouldn't be at..
4) Your neighbor, a few doors down has a teenage daughter that will be raped..
There is more, but all I can remember for now

1) Our neighbor had this little white dog that use to growl at everyone in our family through the fence..The dog died, he accused us of poisoning him, my parents, to try and keep the peace offered to pay for an autopsy..He declined..
Not too long after, our dog Buff was 17 years old and except for arthritis, was in great shape..I found him dead one day and of coarse assumed old age caught up with him..Our neighbor was the type to do this crap, but we never put 2 & 2 together..
2) As long as I lived in that house, every dog we ever had would eat the dirt, in a bathtub size area in front of the garage..No where else..We would comment on it frequently..
3) At the time of this phone call, my two best friends and I were breaking in a rec center on a regular basis..A large white building..
4) My Mother reluctantly told the daughter what the psychic said..None of us know if it ever happened..
