Barbers Motorsport D E/ spring road trip

I am planning a trip to do some travel trailer tripping around the south this spring with my Brother And may be able to make it to the D E event at Barbers the 20/21 April. So wondering if any Pelicans are planning to be there? I would love to do some riding laps, Actually renting a S C or any fun track worthy car would be great.

Any thoughts from those from the area or familiar with the facilities there.

Also any travel and fun ideas for the spring Mid April/ early May in the Ala. Tenn. Indiana, Ky. Miss. areas would be helpful in planning this trip.

Thanks Rickard

Barber is a great facility...have a few friends I may crew for at the April DE. Museum is a must see especially if your into motorcycles.

Keep Road Atlnta in mind aas the Walter Mitty is April 26-28 and a great event.i

If you're round Savannah Roebling Road is a quint track tht has some events around that time.

What is your general planned route/itenerary? Where will you be arriving or coming from?

Other interests besides cars?

Dueller thanks for the heads up about the Mitty that will be great fun for both my Bro and I. We both have lots of Brit cars in our past, My Bro is fixing up a TR 6 that has been on blocks in his garage for ten years plus. This may be just the inspiration he needs.
We are interested in all sorts of things, thinking of seeing the Jack Daniels Dist. some civil war sites, some antebellum houses along the Miss. Rvr. All ideas are welcome.
Looking forward to the Blue Ridge mountains. We will be towing his Air stream and trailer camping along the way

Thanks again for the mention of the Mitty, that will be great!!
Hard to plan from the distance, so all the insight from those closer is helpful.

We are thinking Mid April to mid May.
Any more suggestions?

Cheers Richard

If youre into antebellum homes and civil war stuff, a jaunt down the Natchez Trace to Natchez is a great trip...besides it literrally runs past my back yard (Madison, MS) so you can stop here and get a real shower, bed, meal, etc. And I can take you to some great blues clubs, bars, waterfront jaunts, etc.

Natchez pilgrimage is in the early spring: http://www.natchezpilgrimage.com/spring.htm

National Civil War cemetary is in vicksburg

Road Atlanta is a beautiful facility to camp in the infield

If you swing north a bit visit Huntsville. Space camp and NASA museum are pretty cool. I found it remarkable how cobbled together our early rockets look up close. Those guys had BALLS.
Then a little further north is the Jack Daniels distillery and museum and after that there is Nashville not too much further up the road.

Good museum and tours at Talledega if you're on Interstate 20. You'd better like NASCAR though. Ain't much of anything else.

Thanks Guys for the suggestions, Looks like the Mitty is a better fit than the event at Barber's Tho I would love to have chance to get to a D E event like this, it would suck to go without my car, and just spectate.
So My brother is looking into camping availability and the event sounds perfect. Any tips from those that have been to the Mitty before?

We are starting out in Mobil Al Then up thru Atlanta and on toward southern Indiana to visit family and return closer to the Miss.river.

So we may be coming thru your area Dueller, and may try to touch in with you while there. We appreciate your suggestions and invite. Will Pm you once the plans are more solid and dates are clearer. The Natchez Area sounds very interesting and worth visiting. Just been reading about the Natchez trace, cool.

Milt , it's funny even after growing up in Fla deep in Nascar country, I'm just not all that interested in stock car racing. Too much chrome horn action for me I guess.

Dlockheart, we may stop in to check out the space museum in Huntsville. We grew up on the space coast and watched launches the early days of the first suborbital manned shots. All the way up to the early shuttle launches. And our Dad worked at the Cape. Plus on the down range bases, we lived a couple years in Puerto Rico near a base there. So I'm sure that the museum would be a flash back for us.

My Brother lost His wife recently to cancer, and this camper trailer is new to him. So we are really looking forward to hanging together and sharing some time on the road and some adventure. So thanks again for the ideas that are going to make this trip special for us.

Cheers Richard
