Police vehicles not following the rules they enforce on us.

I am sick and tired of seeing police cars driving illegally while they expect us to follow the exact letter of the law... Things seen recently; speeding to get to McDonald's , changing lanes no blinkers, rolling thru stop sign (California stop), talking on cell phone, just to name a few. Aren't they suppose to lead by example? Seems hypocritical to me that they can do it without reproach. Tim

Was there another cop around to give them a ticket?

How about over the speed limit while typing pn their on-board computer

They are exempted from the hands on law but the rep said on TV that they were professionally trained for that... But they are at fault 62% of the time when involved in an accident. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/Ottawa+police+rack+more+than+crash+bills/4561661/story.html

This gets my goat also. I posted about this a few years ago, a local cop blew by me, easily doubling the speed limit, I decided to follow him and see what was up, this was in my neighborhood. Followed him down to the local stop and go, where he was busy chatting up the ladies at the counter. Same f'n guy had given me a ticket for 60 something in a 50 a year prior. Read me the riot act about unsafe driving, and how I was dangerous to others around me.

Agree with all the comments about cops here. Can't remember having a positive experience with a cop. They are just tax collectors in my view.

Wow, guess great minds think alike.. To be quite honest, I have rarely had a positve experience with law enforcement. Some of my friends are cops and are now retired at the old age of 52, getting 6-7 k per month. Amazing! Tim

That's because you are generally law abiding. The only time you have a cop experience is when getting a ticket. But really, we do need these guys...

I've gotten plenty of tickets. I've never had a negative experience with a cop. And I can say that even when I've gotten tickets, some of the experiences have been positive. If I get pulled over for speeding/whatever and I was actually speeding/whatever, and the cop is polite and professional, I'd consider that a positive experience. I've even gotten a few warnings verbal and or written.

I'm sure there are bad cops and even good folks that have had bad experiences with bad and even good cops. I have to wonder though if the folks that seem to always have bad experiences are giving the cops attitude.

My non-positve experience with cops are all non-traffic related. Primarily problems at my place of business, car washes, coin-ops and express tunnels. All I can say is , pathetic! Tim

I've fantasized about becoming a cop so I could write other cops tickets/DUIs.

I know how to play the game..
it's their attitude that bothers me..
they call it controlling the situation..

you know..
little /big pricks..
hand over the gun..
acting like they bagged Osama or Dillinger..
while scribbling you citation for a lapsed inspection

Maybe because there have been cops shot at, injured and killed during routine traffic stops. And not every cop killer looks like a dirt bag.

I totally respect what the cops ask people to do in normal traffic stops. They *usually* are trying to protect themselves from what could happen. It gets annoying when they get an "attitude" even when you're being respectful, though.

I always treat police with respect and a calm tone... I rarely get that in return. They seem way too uptight and for the most part can't see things from a business owners perspective. Maybe a class on " human interaction" would be a good start. How about giving the same level of respect you are getting from the citizen/business owner that needs help? Too much to ask? Tim

You guys should go read some of the "copped" attitudes on officer.com. Just wow. And you know they're holding back because it's a public forum.
