Took the UPS Truck in for service today, after not driving it for almost a year

When I had the 993 and the Stradale a few years back, I started to refer to the 993 as my UPS Truck, because that's how it felt to drive it, after getting out of the Stradale. It was lumbering, sluggish and felt like it was running on 2 cylinders. So last spring, it sat for several months and puked oil out of the right side valve cover. Not wanting to deal with it, and the upcoming 60K service, I just let it sit. The guilt has been gnawing at me, so took it in today and dropped it off. It sure is a pretty car, and can't wait to get it back and flog on it again. Funny how something so nice can sit and fall out of favoritism so easily. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.... still a pretty cool car with a lot of soul. Just rambling...

And could we have a look at the Stradale also, just for a comparison. It will be interesting to find out once the 993 is going well if that contrast is the same.
BTW nice looking cab.
Cheers Richard

I have the same wheels. The are great.

Motion, when you say it puked oil, do you mean it leaked a lot while sitting or spewed it when you fired it up after sitting? I had a problem like that when I didn't have my oil filler cap screwed on correctly. Scared the hell out of me, but was nothing worse than a mess to clean up. I love wrenching on my 993, though it's incredibly low maint. I'll live in mine before I sell it.

It sat for about 4 months and during that time the valve cover gasket shrunk and it puked. I hear its pretty common.

The F-car's nice and all, and I'm sure it beats the 993 in every aspect on paper. But damn, the 993 is a MUCH better looking car, IMHO. (not that anyone really cares about MHO )

My favorite F-car color. Sorry, the 993 cab runs a distant second visually in my book. A 4S coupe might be a little closer. But not much.

The little 1200cc bug motor in my Formula Vee does that over the winter. You'd think I'd learn to put a drip pan under it.

I'm on a Porsche forum here and have had Porsches forever and not supposed to say this, but..... the 993 is the best looking 911 IMHO, but the 360/Stradale design absolutely takes my breath away. Its such a gorgeous car. Probably the best-looking car on the road. Just my opinion And to drive one..... such a raw, visceral experience. Makes the hairs on your neck stand up! Just brilliant.
