looking for a good gun vise
is the Tipton® Best Gun Vise overkill? i like this one but the price is high.
some cabela stores had them on sale for $49 around christmas - i missed out. i have the plans to make one out of wood but i already have too many things to do. any suggestions?  Cabela's: Tipton® Best Gun Vise™

What do you want it for - shooting or cleaning?
For cleaning, you probably can't go wrong wtih it. Using one to mount a scope level is tricky, if your butt is uneven. For shooting, I'd recommend either making a single stand for up front you can put a sand bag on, or a front and back set up like the Caldwell Led Sled.
