Sharks love a free meal

My dad hooked this African Pompano off Big Pine Key, FL today. Shark took its head off, and along with it my dads hook. The fish floated up, and got hit again by the shark. His pilot got the boat around and my dad hooked it will a gaff. Yikes!

ive never had the pleasure of fishing down there but from what i understand, thats pretty common and it gets to be a nuisance having your catch eaten by sharks even though to me, it seems pretty exciting

check out all the tarpon fishing vids with hammerheads on youtube

those bite marks are the reason i dont swim in the ocean

And now you guys see why I'm leery to dive in shark water.....

Thats why divers carry a big azzed knife.... You cut your buddy and then swim away while the shark eats him...

Sharks never eat lawyers. Professional courtesy.

I lost a few tarpon to sharks off Honeymoon Island when I lived down on the FL gulf coast. Spooky to be up to your waist in the water fishing after that. Sometimes they will bump you.

That happened to me more than ones while surfing, getting bumped & brushed really opens your eyes.. I remember as a kid, we would take the boat to Bimini every summer for vacation and dock at the Bimini Big Game Club, Bimini Big Game Fishing Club, Alice Town History - Organizes Fishing Tournaments & Recreational Diving
One afternoon a boat pulls up, they had a big, Blue Marlin & a Shark. The shark was going after the Marlin that was on the line, and someone the Marlin speared the Shark with his bill, and the fishermen ended up with both. I know we cut lines a lot of times after seeing a Shark going after our fish, 1/2 a Sail doesn't mount very well..

Sharks are great fun to dive with........I'm more worried about fellow divers than the sharks!

my biggest being about a 12-13 foot Bull Shark (big!) during a hand meat feed. 2 garbage cans full of meat scraps were hand fed to them right in front of us in Fiji Beqa Lagoon. Sighhhhhhh, Fiji Fiji Fiji......awesome place to visit........

Caribbean Gray reef sharks, about 10 footers. I think I can count 12 of them in this one favorite photo of mine.......

Honestly, sharks are lazy opportunity feeders.....yes a frantic panic'd twitching hooked fish on a line will draw them, but my first hand observations after many shark dives is that as I said, they're more picky about what they'll eat than many people realize.....and divers taste bad and are chewy in wetsuits anyways.
