Anybody else work with a "low talker"

A guy in my department sounds like he is whispering 100% of the time. I have zero tolerance for it; it drives me crazy. Speak up if you want me to talk to you!

It's gotten to the point that I ignore him in the hallway. I know it will lead to a bunch of "huh?" and "what was that?" and leaning in. I actually dislike the guy because of it, even though he's never done anything to upset me other than this. It may not be fair but it is what it is. SPEAK UP OR GO AWAY!!!

One of my techs is like that. I mention it in every review for ten years. He's a good guy just no one can freakin' hear him!

On my last project we had a really loud talker. Someone said something to her about it and she became low & close talker. I'm not sure which was worse.

My neighbor is a low tone low talker, and every other expression is god damn. He is a really nice guy, but I find myself crawling out of my skin after talking to him for more than a few minutes.

My wife. Low volume silky voice. One of her attractions. She does very well with people. I always thought she could make big money in sales, but she does not care for that type of work.

She is usually telling the grandkids to not use their "outdoors" voice. She doesn't have an outdoor voice. In fact, I've never heard her yell.

But, she can make herself heard.

the guy that works with me has NO teeth and doesn't wear dentures. half the time I can barely make out what he's saying. when I'm operating equipment, I see gums a'flapping but all I hear is gibberish

I used to bartend. We'd occasionally have a waitress start working that was really meek and super quiet. I always tried being really nice and explaining that we had a few thousand watts of sound system turned up to 11 so they would have to speak up. Then I'd try being funny. Then I'd go for a bit shocking. Then I'd get mean. Then the manager would come out and tell me to stop making the waitresses cry. But what the hell, when the music is that loud and it's dark, you can't whisper your orders at me.

I deal with the opposite - a hearing impaired guy who YELLS all the time because he can't hear himself talking (I guess). We have to yell at him too. It gets old after about 3 seconds.
