I just finished making a H&K P7 IWB holster
Today I finally got brave enough to make a inside waist band holster for my newly acquired H&K P7 as this will by my concealed carry spoon. My late Father-In-Law had thick leather in the basement from when he used to make knife and tomahawk sheaths.
Below are the photos of the build. The time required to complete it from scratch was about 7 hours. Below is a cardboard mock-up of what I wanted. ![]() Cutting the leather. ![]() Here are the 2 pieces of leather roughly cut to size and matching the template. ![]() 2 pieces with the P7 sandwiched together. ![]()

Time to punch the stitching holes.
![]() The double stitching was done using 2 separate needles and wax thread. I wish I wore gloves during this step as pulling the stitches tight digs into the skin. ![]() Now it is time to wrap the gun, wet the leather and hand form the leather to match the contours of the P7. Prior to wetting the leather the P7 would NOT fit into the holster. The leather stretches when wet which makes it relatively easy to mold. I used only my fingers so as not to crease the leather. ![]() Here is the almost complete holster. All I need to add are the belt clips then I will be ready to conceal and go. ![]() The holster is very comfortable to wear. The P7 takes just the right amount of resistance to pull out and push back in. I can shake the spoon and holster up side down with out it slipping out accidentally. I feel quite satisfied. They will attach to the outermost tabs using punched holes if I use the metal clips, or stiched on if I go with leather straps and snaps.

Nice work. But how do belt loops attach inside the waist band?

The top holster is the one I modeled mine after but it uses leather strap and snap attachments. I don't think there would be ample space to tuck a shirt in using the snaps.
![]() I think I am going to use metal spring belt holster clips which attach with a single screw at the bottom of the clip allowing the shirt to be tucked in a good 3 inches below the waistband. This should be more comfortable to wear and less noticeable to the public. ![]() The clips can be purchased from Tandy Leather for abour $3.00 each. ![]() Speedy ![]()

The clips you have pictured aren't going to work with your holster. Those clips along with Crossbreed or Comp-Tac clips are designed to attach low, well below the beltline. Your holster is designed for clips or loops to attach high above the beltline. You can pick up tuckable kydex clips from Milt Sparks. Nice holster by the way. This is to me, the most comfortable style of IWB holster. I have a few from TT Gunleather.

Beautiful work. I'm very impressed. Sewing AND keeping your man card.
Question - why the cut out in the leather, right above the top of the slide? |
