I like to think he knows more about what's going on on track than most sighted spectators.

I love this picture. And it's so true...
True story... the reason why I got into cars? I first was into motorcycles. Lost vision in my right eye. Couldn't ride anymore. Can still drive while legally blind in one eye... you get the idea. And to tell you honestly, I would be the same way. If I ever lost vision in both eyes, I would want to feel the vibration of a bike under my hands. And be a passenger in a Porsche, just to hear the engine. |

I'm having vision issues in the left eye. One reason I haven't been riding as much - you need to be on your game on a motorcycle in LA. Never know when the coyotes will call...

Now you have me thinking. Wounder what it would be like to ride in a race car with my eyes closed, or a blacked out visor?

Nice. To me the sound that a car makes is very nearly as important as how it drives. It's the primary reason I lust for an Alfa.

Makes perfect sense to me. One of my favorite things about the recent Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca was the sound of the 917s, and then the extra loud '50s P-cars going down the straight at the start/finish line. It was awesome.

Thanks for sharing this. My dad has recently suffered a partial loss of vision, and I have been worried about him. Thanks for reminding me that it is about the Spirit.

How cool. I suspect he feels the cars as much as he hears them. Thanks for posting a great picture.

Remember those pin boards, where you could stick your hand underneath and the same image would pop up?
I thought...why not a iPad-type brail newspaper? The letters would pop up, and buttons could be pressed to advance to the next page. Then, why not make the brail "clickable" just like a webpage? Why stop at brail? Why stop at only two heights(raised and flat)? Why not have each pin have color leds and be able to vibrate or make sounds when touched? Why not be able to create pictures, using a camera with specialized perspective software? Let the person be able to feel a representation of the image in front of him. Why not be able to pause the "image", reverse, and read the numbers off the cars and their positions? "See" the trees, and the track, and other people. |
