Anyone using Facebook for their business?

I'm sure the Dummies books are good, any other suggestions on references? Success stories? Failures?

Even in my business works better for some titles than others. I think it would be useful for LT. It's not passive, you do need to engage, dedicate time to it. But you knew that already.

I have three friends that have lifestyle clothing companies that have active FB pages. Plus a couple bikini companies. Gotta stay very active and engaged or you might as well do nothing. Go big or stay home.

You have to be there everyday and engage. If you try to be too commercial there can be some backlash, it is a SOCIAL medium after all. I maintain my Facebook site as an insider's access to what's happening in my business. A couple of weeks ago we got in a book that I thought was really outstanding and I posted my opinion of it on our FB page. Our website sold $500 worth of books in the next two days. I don't suggest going too commercial on your business FB page.

It is a tool for my business and I know many others as well and there have been a few clothing companies revived (BMX ones) and started back up as a result of FB fans. 1st thing is to create a "Fan" Page, this is where you talk about your product & new products, you use the "Share" button to spread the word & the invite button. Create "Photo albums" on your "LT" page and keep your product albums separate & updated for ease of navigation. Create something like this, and remember to promote the page on the clothing tags & link to your venders..

Thank you Gentlemen, I'm fairly certain I can personally engage in the Little Traveler FB page. We need to get some interns for the Traveler Girl page, but that's entire marketing plan in and of itself.

People are finding us and liking us and asking where to buy the clothing. I've been posting random, and very amateur, updates for Fall 12 on my own page, I think it would be beneficial to step up our game and put some effort into LT FB. There's always something going on here so never at a loss for content.

A key to building Likes quickly is symbiotic back links. For example, we just announced a title that has 2 guest characters that are also licensed by Funimation. We got together with them for some cross promo and picked up a couple few thousand Likes overnight. We got a bunch of traffic from them and they got some of our people in return. The only thing it cost either of us is a conversation. Premiums are good for building community. We have these $200 arcade sticks that we are doing as a contest/giveaway, picked up a couple of thousand likes there. You can and probably should think about integrating Twitter and even Tumblr into it as well.

My point was the logo and a lot of other info can be in the profile image. FB allows it to be something like 5 times as tall as it is wide. A lot of FB business users (like the one in post #5) just use their horizontal format logo as the whole profile image and waste a lot of available space.

Just keep at it Shaun. The LT FaceBook page is already good, just keep it active and interesting and people will come. the nice thing is also that it is viral - so if someone comments or likes something on your page, all their friends will see this as well.

So the more interest you generate for comments etc, the more people will see it...

Thanks Pål but I have to disagree...our FB page is terrible!

We are missing out on a lot opportunities. No web site, amateur FB page, no mention of either on hang tags, etc. I can start to focus on this next week, and definitely get the store going. For the kids (size too small, need to print up the right ones)

I find it easier with my "hobby/business" AirBoston Graphics to update a facebook page than a website. My boss at the body shop (Sublime Restorations) does the same. Now that I think about it, every artist I know uses a facebook business page too.
