How many lakes are float planes allowed to land on? I would think the FAA would have something to say about it. Just wondering.

The seaplane rating is one of the most fun things to do as a GA pilot. Don't know why, it just is...

Cool concept. I wonder if they will get enough buyers to actually put it into production? From the website:
"OFFERING DESCRIPTION This Deposit Agreement outlines the deposit terms for a production aircraft of ICON Aircraft, Inc. Aircraft production is scheduled planned to begin in 2012. Positions will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. This Deposit Agreement is subject to the following terms: Aircraft: ICON A5 (Standard Equipment – see Exhibit A) Estimated Price: $139,000 + CPI Deposit Amount: $5,000 Refundable: Yes, less a $500 processing fee Transferable: No" I just don't see a huge market for an expensive jet ski with wings.

Most lakes are legal. FAA doesn't "allow" use of certain lakes. Any lake is okay with the FAA, but some local jurisdictions have rules prohibiting use.

IIRC isn't there a single seat ultra light that looks like that?
