Office internet is fast

That is about double the download speed of the home connection!

I'm impressed.

Makes me proud to be an American that we can serve up smut that fast.

Nice, and probably inexpensive too.

I can't get cable in our office space, so we're currently on a bonded DSL at 20/2, but we're switching to 10/10 Metro Ethernet in the next few weeks.

It's the cost effectiveness of cable that makes it really rock, one of our sites tests out at 25/5 for something like $69/mo.

Shuddap! I'm working on a military base without public internet access, my crappy Verizon aircard is giving me 80 kb/s. Now I remember how bad dial-up sucked.

red-beard 02-14-2012 03:13 PM

$95/mth. This is only supposed to be 40Mb down, 10 up. They also offer a 100 Mb down, 20 up for around $199.

I forced them to accept my Motorola Surfboard 6121. They had never seen one before and it was the first one they installed. I have a 6120 at home and I figured I should get the latest one for the new office.

Yep, Cable Internet rocks! My girls are very happy at work.

Note: There seems to be a big difference between Xfinity & Speedtest results. These were done 5 minutes ago 30 seconds apart:

I have premium (but not THE premium) home cable. Normally run mid-30s - mid-40s . . .

Was that an Xfinity speed-test server, and are you on Xfinity/Comcast?

If so, I do not feel the result is accurate. Connecting to a speed-test server based from teh ISP you are using, of course you'll connect faster than heck.

The real test is, how fast can they get you OUT of thier own network and onto the web, connecting to another site, speed test server, etc...

try Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

RWebb 02-14-2012 04:17 PM

that gives 25 down & 4.65 in der home office and I have comcast's cheapest ($70) option dunno if it is Xfinity

I am avoiding the downtown office so no data for that.

This is what speedtest.net just reported. It connected to a site about 5 hours from here..
I'm very impressed with my internet @ home connection:

Here are my results from home:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1329272537.jpg

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1329272565.jpg

17.92% faster download measurement , but the upload is virtually the same. I expect my work results are similar. Still puts my download in the 60 Mbps region.

Re-test.

I'm doing this over Wifi

I have connected a CAT 5e cable

I think my download and upload are throttled, as I'm not paying for top teir service.

We took the business into the corporate world! First full day with everyone in the new office.

BRPORSCHE 02-14-2012 06:10 PM

Congrats! This calls for a celebration.

red-beard 02-14-2012 06:49 PM

Where are you working these days? Off FM-529?

BRPORSCHE 02-14-2012 07:14 PM

Nah thats the drilling guys. I am over off 249 and the belt westbound.

rick-l 02-15-2012 03:37 PM

I can do better than that

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1329352628.jpg

mjohnson 02-15-2012 04:20 PM

I got 6 Mb/s down, 8 Mb/s up. Anyone else have a faster upload speed than their download?

Both are pretty uninspiring - we should do better since we have, and have a loooong history of, some of the fastest machines around. Those rates however were through my desktop and therefore through untold firewalls and filters...

we = Los Alamos Nat'l Laboratory

Good enough for youtube though. (trollin' for "Government work" hate...)

Rusty Heap 02-15-2012 07:05 PM
