At least with the 911 and 930 motor there is a set of specs that you really should stay within. I think Wayne covered most of them. |
This is really good.

Well said Matt! I would like to think that most of us here just enjoy cars, and motorcycles, and women, and whiskey, without the need to denigrate someone else's preference.
I own an '86 3.2 911 that I completely rebuilt the engine. Myself. In my garage. Without help. Wayne's rebuild book and this board made it possible. My only moment of nervousness was worrying that I would not get the case halves bolted together in the time designated before the sealant dried. But that turned out to be a needless worry. 8 years later, still running great. Oh and as to the 911-Mustang debate? I own one of each. That way I can just sit around and insult myself without having to come here. :D Paul, as to your Mustang. It is a throw away car. Mine is a hoot to drive, but it will be gone before the warranty expires and I will move on to the next flavor of the week. |
You would think that if is so easy to rebuild a 911 engine that Motor Sheister would not have many problems. Perhaps they should do Fords.

Whats up with the poster of negative Porsche vs. how great the Mustang is? Is this about comparing the complete car today or the cost of an engine rebuilds from older 1980's 911 to 1990's+ Fords?
So if the topic is drifting in that direction, maybe that should be a new thread but I've got a short story to share. I had a fellow trade an approx. 2,000 mile perfect like new Ford Mustang 5.0 GT convert. w/ manual trans. in for a 911 turbo. Thought I'd like to try a Pony again so I purchased the trade-in. What a car to get in wonderful trouble with! There's much to talk about in that prior sentence and will skip all that but in the end (owned it just a little more than a year), I was through with the new Ford idea. All of it... the dealers, the P.O.S car but thats the attitude expected one gets from domestic cars. I still own some early Fords and Porsche but for completely different reasons. |

I didn't realize you hated Fords that much. :D Kurt, as far as "throwaway" goes, I pretty much view all new cars as "throwaway"...that's why even the great P-car suffers tremendous depreciation. My plan is to sell or trade the Bullitt after it's extended warranty expires. |
