Hp laptop driving me batty

I've got a DV7 HP laptop with wireless connectivity issues. I'll be crusiing along, then all the sudden it will drop it's connection to "Limited Access" or "No internet access" while maintaining it's connection to the router, a Netgear N600. This has happened with two different routers.
The other wireless stuff in the house seem to have no problems. A TV, and two other laptops, and a PS3.
I've updated the bios, and updated the drivers for the wireless card, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN.

The connection is dropping randomly, many times every day.

Signal strength is excellent.

I've tried resetting the router, changing the channels on the router, re-seating the antenna wires on the wireless card.. I've tried everything.

Seems other people have similar issues as well...

Any thought on this? Anyone here had such an issue?

It's driving me crazy.

house or apt?

Where is the microwave? Is it on a counter or above the stove?

Cordless phones at home?

These 2 are the most common items that cause issues, espcially if your in an apt/condo complex. Neighbors could get a call or make some pop corn and cause your wireless to drop. They use the same 2.4 frequency.

Other thing you can do, if your laptop has it, is to move to 802.1A router, or just set your router to A if it's capable already.

I would also update your drivers for your wifi & bios on the laptop if it's available.

House. Nearest neighbor is a good distance away... all other wireless netowrks are very weak signals.
Microwave above stove. Happens whether it's in use or not.
Coredless phone, yes. Happens whether or not it's in use, or whether it's plugged in or not.

Have updated bios and drivers.

Is there a power-saving feature enabled on the WiFi device? Check power management options, maybe.

I found this on my Asus M60J which caused it to drop WiFi connections all the time. My HP dv6 is fine, though.

Check the task manager and see how many services that start with "HPxxxxxx" are running and stop all of them. There is generally one or two that check for updates sometimes constantly and that can easily shut down a wireless connection. If close enough (15 feet or so) use a wire.

A friend of mine has some similar problems. Had the phone install guy, the electric guy and she is IT all show up at the same time. Turns out her direct TV receiver was hooked into the phone line and was messing up the dsl signal.

i have a HP DV6 laptop that has a great wirless adapter. Well, not sure great is the best word but it holds the best connection of any device in the house. We grab the connection from next door too.

Knock on wood my HP for 3+ yrs has been trouble free. I think it is a wireless issue. Try a different set up with what you have if you can.

Still happening. Made sure the router's Firmware was updated. A week ago, there was no update. On checking today, there was, so it did it's thing.

Our connection is Cable, not DSL, so DTV isn't interfering with it.

It's taking a very long time to connect to the router, as well
