I got vertigo just from watching that. I almost threw up twice. I can't believe I made it all the way through the video. I really hope he lives long enough to make a ton of money in endorsements from outdoorsey North Face type companies.

I've done some climbing when I was much younger, but I never felt like I wanted to get serious about it. I think it's because a kid in my high school got killed that way. He was light years ahead of the rest of us. In ninth grade when we were working on our pathetic wood shop projects, he was making a kayak with a wood frame covered with canvas which he treated when he finished to make it waterproof. He used it for river kayaking at a time when the rest of us didn't really know what a kayak was. He fell on Chimney Spire in Yosemite & they had to dynomite above where he fell to bury him. This was in 1960. Our Year book was dedicated to him.

Now in 993 land ...

I'd like to live in a van for a while like that.
I love how the anchor woman asks if he goes without showers for days. LOL! It is amazing to me how for some city slickers that's a major worry. Climbing without a rope is just stupid IMHO. The guy is suicidal. You can tell that in his comment where he hopes to just snap out of it one day. It reminds me a bit of Andrew McCandless (Into The Wild), who just sees how long he can push it obviously ignoring general outdoor rules. G |
