Call your police dept and see if there have been any break-ins recently.
If not, I doubt your house was being cased, unless you have something like 50 lbs of cocaine under your mattress. |
Just called FedEx again, still nothing in the system due to be delivered to my house.
When I was in elementary school I would leave school every day to go home and have lunch. Starting at 14-15 years old I used to get on planes by myself and fly to Germany. There was never an issue hoping a train from Stuttgart to Innsbruck or Zermatt to go skiing for a few days without my parents. But now I need to worry about my kid being home for 30 minutes by herself in an upscale community. Really sad commentary on the times. |
It's going to end up being a guy delivering a cake for his surprise B-day party or something.

Way too many bad people out there these days. |
Maybe you're over-reacting. Maybe it just was a package/letter being delivered.
Then again, the house across the street from me was robbed this week. A middle-aged man knocked on the front door at 1:30 in the afternoon. The elderly lady who lives there answered the door. Her daughter (with whom she lives) obviously wasn't around due to being at work. The man explained there were some trees he had to trim in her backyard for a utility company. She let him through the house, as the side gate was locked (always is, which can clearly be seen from the street). While she was preoccupied with the man in the backyard, someone snuck in the front of the house and stole jewelry and cash from her bedroom. That house had obviously been cased beforehand. They knew which house on the street was occupied by an old lady who would be home alone and wasn't of the keenest faculties (as they didn't knock on any of the neighboring houses' doors--there were people at home in those houses during the time of the robbery). Pays to be ever-vigilant. |

But my daughter is adamant that he did not have a package/envelope in his hand and FedEx has no record of any package in their system being delivered to us. I've called 3 x's now. In my neighborhood the only issues we have really had are either new construction or resales being broken into for the kitchen appliances. So far it's not been an occupied house. |
stomach.
i am very impressed with your awareness..and your kid's. not to many people would even question the situation. people call me paranoid. maybe i am. i think you are doing the right thing. just being alert and aware makes a diff. |
Now I'm frustrated and a bit pissed off. Left work early to be home when he came back. They usually show up around the same time. Get home and nothing on door. Go out to street to get mail and there is a door tag on the mailbox. According to the time on it he showed up 2 hours earlier.
Great, go online to track the tag number, comes up blank. Call and get a live operator. Nothing in their system. WTF? Woman suggests I just sign it so they can leave the package without getting a signature. Said Mam, you guys have no record of whatever this package is. What happens if I sign it and "gets left/delivered" and the driver or someone else takes it from my doorstep? How would I even start to make a loss claim if I don't even know what it is or who sent it? Arghhhh |
Just got off the phone with Capital One fraud protection.
Whatever this package is it's not my new cards, they went yesterday out regular mail so won't be showing up for a couple more days. |
How bout holding it at the nearest Fedex office and picking it up yourself?

It's the over abundance of media and reporting. And the Internet. 10 years ago you never would have posted what happened to you online for others to know about. |
Many times there is info on the Door Tag for you to
PICK UP at your local FedEx warehouse AFTER 6:30 (or so) PM. I hope you will do that, so you don't have a fricking coronary about how someone is trying to murder your family with this FedEx package. |

No way for them to reroute something they don't acknowledge exists. |

Sorry, SM; I really don't mean to make light of what is apparently a very stressful situation, and I hope you get it handled soon. SmileWavy |

Seems the only one who knows anything about it is the driver. Last night I called my neighbor who is an Ops Director for FedEx. Just spoke to him again and he says he had someone look into it this morning and he tried to track the door tag number that was left today and he can't find it either. His only suggestion is to wait until late tonight as sometimes the drivers don't download their info till the end of their shift. Watch, it'll be from the IRS and I'm getting audited. Maybe I should not try so hard to get my hands on whatever the hell this thing is. |
Maybe it was the "sexy delivery guy" for a bachelorette party.
11 is too young to sign for that package also. |
Process server?
|
Interesting.. I heard on the news just this morning that a new form of burglary is going around the neighborhoods. Someone will knock on the door, and if
no one answers the door, even a response from behind a closed door, they know that no one is home and proceed to break in. That had said to at least respond to the knock at the door and let them know you're there. If they are persistent, let them know you are calling the police (or work the action on your 12 guage). |
ya know what?????????????? yer really stressing about this. heres the solution:
get dressed in yer cammo's. plant a bunch of "INSURED BY HK" signs around property. sit on yer porch, with a lil red wagon with an ice chest, full of beer. with (2) bandeleros of ammo across yer chest. yer pistol's(thats 2 pistoles) on yer hips. yer rifle and shotgun leaning against the house siding. yer dawg and even a cat. get yer hunting amigo to come over. and sit their with ci-gars in yer mouths. and watch speed channel for 48-72 hours straight or until ya gotta make a beer run. and i guuuuur-ranteee......................your problems WILL GO AWAY! trust me on this. honest! "i'm an attorney!" LOL! |
