Hugh,

I believe everything except the part about him being a middle of the road Moderate and living in Manhattan. :)

All kidding aside, congratulations.

Congrats! My FIL-to-be had bought a rifle the same day I went to ask the question. We're going hunting together this summer, I think ;)

She moved to Manhattan with him about six weeks ago without a commitment, I advised against moving into his condo (yes a condo in mid-town Manhattan, not an apartment). I told him I was delighted. I can't believe my little girl is going to get married. SmileWavy

I'm happy for you Hugh- got my call on Feb 12th asking permission for a Valentine's proposal- similar feelings for my future son in law- great kid (31 years old) works for one of Brumos Mercedes stores in Jacksonville - really keeps my daughter grounded which is an accomplishment in & of itself.

Glad it went so well for you Hugh...hope their marriage is a happy one.

Hugh-

Congratulations!! We talked about your daughter and her boyfriend when we had lunch together 60 days ago. I told Tiffany the news, and she was so excited for her (and you) -- you know how girls are about this stuff. You're a good judge of character, so it wouldn't suprise me if your daughter is too. Sounds like she made a good choice, and so did he. Again, congrats!

Eric (and Tiffany)

I still believe in that. Funny, I did that with both of my fathers-in-law (1st marriage didn't take). Funny thing, both of them went into a story why their marriages didn't last right after I asked. Odd. Donna and I have been married 28 years, why she has put up with me that long I'll never know.

Congrats...and holy crap, bought a condo in NYC, depending on size, they typically average over $1m. Apparently its not very big, like 2,000 sq. ft. I haven't seen it but it overlooks a park.

He's a good guy and I have met and like his parents.

Congratulations.

Congrads.
Yeah I asked my FIL too, he said no, I told him tough chit, we really didn't need his permission. That was almost 26 years ago. I reckon he was wrong, but at least I did do the right thing.

Condo in Manhattan? Too late to negotiate a dowry? Congratulations Pops!

azasadny 02-25-2012 07:09 AM

Congratulations! I remember asking Beth's father for his permission to marry her. I know it's a quaint, outdated formality (probably came from back when dowries were required), but he said "Yes" and we married just over 25 years ago. I hope this works out well for her (and you)!!!
