My friend's classic '65 T-Bird

My friend's father took his '65 Thunderbird out for a cruise yesterday... I love the tonneau cover! My MazdaSpeed3 is in the driveway...

No, he took his grandkids for a drive. Beth and I were there to give him a few hours break since he's been taking care of his wife. His 83 year old wife of more than 50 years is dying and it's very difficult. We are trying to help as much as we can, we take our dog Daisy over to sit with her and she loves the dog and just smiles. It was a bittersweet day, for sure...

Good for you, Art! I feel honored to know you and your family, if even only by internet.

At first I was thinking WoW what a classy car, with that cool tonneau and all.
Then I read on and realized that the real class is with You Art and your wife and Daisy. Good on you. I bet He came home with his personal battery recharged as well as that of the car.
Does the tanneau come off to reveal a small back seat?

Cheers Richard

Awesome car! The days are long gone when cars had that level of character, appeal and coolness (I could go on).

Thanks, guys! You recharge my batteries, that's for sure. The tonneau cover comes off to revel the backseat.

My friend (the son of the people we visited yesterday) came by and we had a talk about hospice and why his father can't take care of his wife by himself. The son is going through a very nasty divorce and he's been sidetracked by that and Beth and I did our best to explain why his parents need him NOW.

We'll go back next weekend and bring Daisy (the therapy dog!) and sit with them. Mrs N. is quiet now, but soon she'll start wanting to talk and we'll be there when she does. Mr N. feels bad that he can't take care of her by himself, and we're trying to help without making a nuisance of ourselves.

These folk are like my "2nd parents" and I lived with them when I came home on leave when I was in the USN, before Beth and I married. She is Greek and he is Armenian and they enjoyed making me some of the best food I've ever tasted. Beth made them stuffed green peppers, chicken soup and a Greek eggplant appetizer since Mrs N can't cook any more.

It's tough, but we've been through this before with my grandfather and Beth's grandmothers. You do the best you can and hope for the best...

Art you are one classy guy. From reading your posts over the years, I have an immense amount of respect for you. No surprise, your wife is right there with you.

Dogs are great!

Beautiful T-Bird also. Thanks for sharing.
