Tickets are kind of a fiasco.... You had to pay, to have the right to buy tickets in the first batch released, or some such nonsense.

legion 03-09-2012 07:42 AM

Yeah, I'm not doing that. I'm buying a ticket. I'm not buying the right to buy a ticket.

porsche4life 03-09-2012 07:43 AM

Exactly. Im not forking over money till it gets me a damn ticket, and quite honestly not till its a little more certain there will be a race!

onewhippedpuppy 03-09-2012 09:33 AM

Have they even announced ticket pricing?

javadog 03-09-2012 09:35 AM

Given the problems they've had so far, how much work they have to complete before the first race, the pissing contest between Tavo Hellmund and everybody else, and the backpedaling by the state regarding the fees, I'd be surprised if this track ever makes it past the first couple events.

I know I'm not buying any tickets yet...

I've never understood roadracing ticketing. The really expensive seats tend to be on the front straight away where you can see the pits and maybe one turn. I like to sit were I can see a couple of turns. I'll wait until regular grandstand tickets go on sale.

Logistics are going to be an issue (not to mention some very expensive hotel rooms in some very modest hotels).

What do you mean by expensive rooms in very modest hotels?

Any chance you have the same screen shot for hotel rates a week earlier or later?

onewhippedpuppy 03-11-2012 07:04 PM

Not one of those hotels is worth more than $100/night. Wow.

That's crazy! I thought hotel rooms in Montreal on F1 weekend were bad. I'll be sleeping on a friend's couch or floor :D

Holy Crap!! My thoughts exactly. That is ridiculous.

Porsche-O-Phile 03-12-2012 06:47 AM

KOA anyone?

Jeebus, that's insane.

porsche4life 03-12-2012 07:00 AM

No kidding. Ill be looking for a couch or a place to put my tent.

Zeke 03-12-2012 07:10 AM

Just hope that one of the parties in court does not go for an injunction. if I was an attorney in this matter, that would be my tactic.

BRPORSCHE 03-12-2012 08:39 AM

Those prices are just insane. And most of them are no where near the track!

Eff that, I'll sleep in a ditch before I pay those prices.

mattdavis11 06-05-2012 05:02 PM

Just heard on the radio here in Austin that tickets will go on sale this weekend and the prices range from $159 to $500.

I also thought I'd mention to anyone needing a place to stay, it could be feasible to have the run of my place, or at least sack out on the couch/floor/whereever. Hotel rooms are going to be hard to come by, I hear.

My apartment is 1br (king) 1 bath, 800sq ft. Pets allowed, smoking allowed, in fact if you don't smoke, you may not like it. 10 miles to the airport, 12 miles to downtown, 2 miles to the toll road, and approximately 15 miles to the track. You will want to take the toll road to the track. Shopping less than a mile. Gated, pool, coeds, etc...

So long as I keep my nose clean with the misses, I don't see a problem with a couple, a small family, or a few of you guys calling it home for awhile. I'm not interested in renting the place out, but rather hoping to provide a possible opportunity to enjoy the race weekend when otherwise it would not happen. Having said that, 9 of you can out roll sleeping bags if you want.

It's but a small offering to a community that has afforded me much.

BRPORSCHE 06-05-2012 05:09 PM

Just saw the prices and yes that is very reasonable. The only thing that is keeping me from being a definite is the downright ridiculous hotel prices.

I just can't see myself paying that.

JJ 911SC 06-05-2012 05:19 PM

Holly Caca... My last year 3 days Gold Tickets sitting on the starting line at a cost of $500 which is barely more than the lowest one night hotel price posted below :eek::eek: and the Poutine were less than $5

Luckily, my brother live there so it only cost me a case of beer :)

Lots of people from the surrounding city up to 3 hrs away travel back and forth on daily basis.
Kudos to vmattdavis11 and wife for his offer http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

Submitted my application to be volunteer "Race Steward" I have the experience required I'll see what happens.

MarkRobinson 06-06-2012 10:12 AM

Maybe I should rent out my three extra rooms for that weekend/week: heck, I'm only 30 minutes from the track. I have a buddy who also has extra rooms in his house...hmmm.
