Witnessing the tragedy that can result from a split second of inattention is tough to watch, but a worthwhile reminder.

That's a good reminder to slow it down in bad weather and take care not to over-correct.

RIP

Lee and Aigel, I could not agree with you two more. I think about going fast next time when I get behind the wheel in the wet or white stuff. God only know I have done some stupid stuff in the snow in my youth in my trucks. coming from Socal, the white stuff is a lot of fun to mess around in.

Damn.

But there is no difference between driving down that road, and reading a book. You don't decide when you go.

Is this for real? The big SUV became little pieces?

Nasty situation, any idea where that happened? Looked like that traffic was really moving for those conditions.

Good GOd! That SUV was vaporized! Does anyone here run a camera in their car when they're driving down the road? Was the camera car perhaps a police car? I didn't get the sense that it was, because you could hear voices but no radio chatter.

Wow, that is an extreme reminder to drive safely and to never skip the chance to tell your loved ones, that you love them.

It has happened to me once. 45 mph switching lanes on the snow. There is always more snow in between lanes. I lost control and went sideways into the median. Luckily there was a rail to stop me from going on the other side. Now, I always avoid changing lanes in snow conditions, and if I have to do it, I switch very slowly.

No date stamp Patrick so probably not LE camera.

I wish I had a dash cam on my truck...food for thought if only to produce traffic courtesy/safety videos for educational purposes one day.

That was radical!

I have a friend that did basically the same but a truck didn't run into his car. Instead his suburban flipped. His two kids had been watching a movie and had taken their belts off. When he flipped, the police and volunteers looked for a half hour for the kids, they were ejected. The little girl was found in the median, she was 11 and died at the scene. The boy was found shortly after the girl, he was flown out and survived with massive head injuries, he now can't concentrate, behavioral issues, etc.
Their main house is in Dallas but they have a place in vail, they've done that drive for 15 years. Two things, he overcorrected and gave into the kids for comfort and gave up on their safety. To make this story even sadder, they had another baby, it has down syndrome.
