I had one in the late '70s. It was my stepmother's car, handed down to me. Mint condition, dark green. I remember very little about it, it made no lasting impression. Type 4 engine obviously, built like a tank but pretty dull driver.
I liked my type 3 a lot better. Those were beautiful cars. Type 4s were ugly ducklings. |
I must be the only one here who HATED those d@mn things back in the day.
|
I'de get a 924 instead, also a 3 door car, but goes a lot faster, looks a lot better and has a huge boot as well.

Here's a nice one for sale, although a bit pricey..

VW Wagons
Or, you can make something that is more fun to drive and more of an eye catcher!

I disliked like them back in the day, but they are pretty...nahh....way cool now. That one looks pretty nice. The yellow one in the 'for sale' link is gorgeous.
But then I'm also a VW bug guy. . . .aircooled, of course. The only REAL bugs.... |
back from traveling. Going to look at the car on Saturday. Problem now is I'm back in love with the 94 Merc wagon. took it too NY and back, pulled the passenger seat and filled the entire car with our trade show booth and it performed like a new car. this little 412 is no substitute and would then have to be "fun project" car and don't really need that right now, but if I can get it cheaply enough...

One of my ex wives had one. Great car, never a problem. Can't remember anything good about her, however.

Byron asked me what happened with the car today. Just too much on my plate to take on this project. If anyone wants it for around $500, I can talk with the owner or just forward you his info.

Will he fit?

I remember my dad getting one for my brother. Seems like it always leaked fuel and they never could fix it.
|
What is it?

I think I still have one. Never would run right until I put a carb on it. Then it ran great. Its in a field somewhere. Cut the top off and used it for a truck. Junk
