Gotta love PA. Walk into the court house and 10 to 15 minutes later walk out with your LTCF (License to Carry Firearms). Our local Sheriff is great. He encourages anyone who is not prohibited (felons and those with mental issues) to carry.

The permit in NH costs $13. You provide three referencences, the Police Dept sends each of them a letter requesting a response if they feel you should not have a license to carry a concealed weapon. Two weeks later, if no responses are received and your background is clean, you get a permit.

Took about 2 months in NC. Had to take a class, and prove proficiency with the weapon.
I had to show presentation of the weapon and accuracy, also he made me shoot left handed (missed every time) I have now practiced that.

I had to sign a medical release, was finger printed and my instructor had me sign a piece of paper that stated that if I stop practicing than I stop carrying.

My wife is a LEO and she had to get a permit form the sheriff to purchase a handgun in NC.

30 days and counting

My CCW license took 6 business days....10 minutes to buy a firearm.

OK so not quite three months. Only 63 days

Well now the fun part! I'll keep you posted.

"It wouldn't kill first time gun owners to sit through a 1 hour safety lecture."
From Harddrive.
Absolutely.
Proper handling and safety issues should be addressed.

I have had a concealed carry permit for over 30 years. Been shooting since I was 7 years old. Just bought a handgun cash and carry in PA with a phone call to whoever they call.

I don't ever carry. Unless on the way to the range.
Just want to have the right to.

You might want to think about getting a permit before the IIC (Idiots In Charge) decide you can't have one.
Why aren't there ever smart people in charge?

1) We still have waiting periods in Illinois.

2) How is charging a fee to practice a right not a poll tax?

3) Eric Holder is trying to bait the Illinois State Police into requiring SSN on FOID applications, and a 60-day waiting period on all firearm and ammo purchases.

DANGEROUS NEW PROPOSAL TO RESTRICT RIGHTS OF ILLINOIS GUN OWNERS

I've had way more than a 1 hour safety lecture. I have four different NRA courses under my belt in addition to all of the advice, mentoring and guidance I've received over the years from very experienced shooters.

This was 63 days just to get a purchase permit. I have an FID .

The CCW is next but I'll need to try the non-resident approach first. Maybe Florida or Utah. Jersey is awful for carry permits.
