the subset of the popn. is the number of people who will be affected by flooding & storm surge in the near future
you can take the # people and multiply by the value of their property to get a rough estimate of the expected economic carnage |
I thought for sure it was shark attacks

What does this map show - Part Deux. Lots of clues left in, names removed using my very limited graphics editing skills:

haha - that is a famous one; a "model" map if you will...
I'll keep quiet for now, Jim |
Yep.

where's the big spike in Arkansas?
if the sea levels rise to knock out all the the ports; how is walmart going to get any product in? |
I'm all for it. I'm a few miles inland and will end up with substantially higher property values if the sea level rises a few feet.
I'd like to be able to grow palm trees and desert succulents in my yard for landscaping too. And never have to snowblow the driveway again. Yep. I'd be okay with that. |

It's either the eutrophic and hypoxic coastal areas or people who have dentures.

I know, who am i kidding. Just to put things BACK into perspective, I noticed there's a large spike near the bay area. Interesting, it sure looks SEVERE according to that map. Looks really BAD! As much as I'd love to see Sodom and Gomorrah underwater, I questioned the visual image. So I checked just to see HOW bad it really was. According to NOAA, Sea Level Trends Quote:
So, the sea level has gone up an average of 2.01 mm per year over the past 120 years or so, but they stopped at 2006. Gee, i wonder why? That's what, about .078" per year? Heck, if that were the gap on my piston rings I'd be REALLY NERVOUS! :) BTW, here's another important tid-bit that wasn't mentioned previously: That whole predicted rise in seal levels basically leveled off and stopped about 25 years ago. Sea levels are NOT rising. Nope, they don't like telling you that, it takes away that fear factor that is necessary for the brainwashing uh I mean manipulating uh I mean re-education, oh call it what ever you want. Again from NOAA: Interannual variation since 1980 Take a good look. In fact, over the past 12 to 14 years average sea levels have DROPPED in the San Francisco area. Oh no Sammy, stop it. Make the voices stop, they hate real facts and data! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331998639.jpg |
Ah, there he is.
|
note: the following post is not meant to take either side in the climate change argument
How do they measure sea level rise? California is a very seismically active area. If the ground rises, does that show up as sea level drop? With crustal distortion the sea levels will rise and fall dramatically in different parts of the world- like Japan. What is the mean sea level trend when you average around the world or correct for land uplift/sinking? |
good question, but I dunno - you might contact USGS on that
you are right, sammy seems to try and foul every thread on here that might possibly cut into the profits of his oil co. employer -- one of the worst operations in the state, BTW |
