Submarine ingress routes into the US.

szyzygy 03-15-2012 08:26 PM

how far out to sea you could go if you stacked the population of those areas head to toe

Flieger 03-15-2012 08:44 PM

How far out to sea the pollutant runoff for that area affects the ocean ecosystem.

HardDrive 03-15-2012 08:58 PM

Not sure, but very curious. The gulf coast data blip is interesting.

Flieger 03-15-2012 09:00 PM

I figured that had something to do with the Mississippi dead zone.

slakjaw 03-15-2012 09:15 PM

I don't think it shows anything at all.

mossguy 03-15-2012 09:17 PM

Population.

Superman 03-15-2012 09:23 PM

The map shows an outline of the United States, with black pokey things sticking out.

porsche4life 03-15-2012 09:24 PM

Spot on Supe!

Hmmm, if it was population, then wouldn't NY and LA be the biggest spikes?

I guess it could be population within a given distance of the coast. Cali has lots of people, but I don't know if as many live right ON the beaches as they do in FL.

porsche4life 03-15-2012 09:28 PM

Nope, even by that logic, the biggest spike still wouldnt be MS.... Thinking Max is right...

correct, but insufficient - what population, exactly?

masraum is right - it cannot be the total popn., so it must be a subset

Beats me!

mossguy 03-15-2012 09:35 PM

Maybe Hispanic.

RWebb 03-15-2012 09:42 PM

the answer is actually in masraum's post, but he is not thinking of one word in the right way...

mossguy 03-15-2012 09:45 PM

Population of something other than people?

RWebb 03-15-2012 09:46 PM

nope, subset of humans

I'm gonna wait for tomorrow to pick up the big crowd of people screwing off at work before I reveal, so I hope it doesn't keep you up tonite!

Radioactive 03-15-2012 10:07 PM

How about something like where people or immigrants entered the country.

No, it can't be that because the border with Mexico would be all kind of spikey...

I give up

mossguy 03-15-2012 10:18 PM

Fishermen and women.

dont worry, that spider thread will keep me awake to work out this problem just fine..

chocolatelab 03-15-2012 10:25 PM

Must be something environmental tied to the ocean. Immigrants enter the US via land as well as sea so I think the immigration angle is out.

Huge spike in San Francisco. Appears to move inland a bit around Washington/Oregon. Also along the eastern seaboard.

How about estimated deaths based on a certain size tsunami?

Or initial outbreak of the Zombie plague....

vash 03-15-2012 10:26 PM

thinking,,rats or roaches. or how much waste we put into the ocean.

look 171 03-15-2012 10:49 PM

The amoount of drugs coming into the us via the ocean? This is bugging the hell out of me. I want the answer now.

Dottore 03-15-2012 11:59 PM

Pleasure boat ownership? Live-aboard rates?

Jrboulder 03-16-2012 01:02 AM

I'm going to make the prediction right now that this is going to be really lame.

genrex 03-16-2012 01:22 AM

A population subset? That's a tough one...

Cubans and their descendents?

_

rnln 03-16-2012 01:29 AM

earth explode. The end of the world.

Porsche-O-Phile 03-16-2012 01:41 AM

Longshoremen?

slakjaw 03-16-2012 06:21 AM

People's iron levels.

slakjaw 03-16-2012 06:32 AM

Number of people who post in PARF?

GH85Carrera 03-16-2012 06:50 AM

I guess it is the amount of garbage produced and that get out to sea from each region. Garbage like plastic and sewage. Mostly sewage.

It could be the amount of fertlizer run-off as well.

GothingNC 03-16-2012 07:45 AM

Democrats?

slakjaw 03-16-2012 07:49 AM

Anyone want to wager this goes to parf ?

stomachmonkey 03-16-2012 07:59 AM

Sharks, with lasers.

stomachmonkey 03-16-2012 08:01 AM

Think I'm going to go with airplane routes.

Heavy concentrations look to point to airports.

1990C4S 03-16-2012 08:05 AM

BP oil slicks?

So no one flys to Mexico or Canada?

UconnTim97 03-16-2012 09:40 AM

Summer tourists to the shore?

Jim727 03-16-2012 09:44 AM

Number of people affected by rising sea levels.
