Cape Cod, MA ...Renting a beach front house ?
Hello Folks,
Needing help finding a beach front house in the Cape Cod area in the first part of June ? Is there enough stuff there to keep the kids/family happy/occupied for 4-5 days? Thanks |

Plenty to do.... water will be cold...
and its late to be looking for June rentals... The popular places get rented many months in advance.... like most seaside places..

Traditionally this stuff books many months in advance, so there may be slim pickings. But with the economy the way that it is, you can probably find something. My wife's family is from there, so I'll ask them where are good places to look online. Usually we either stay with her parents, or call the owners/listing agents directly (there's often a "summer rental" sign in front of these types of properties).
Do you have any idea where you want to stay? The Cape is skinny, but long. It can take a couple hours to get from one end (Falmouth/Woods Hole) to the other (Provincetown). You can easily spend a week or longer on the Cape. It's beachy. So you go to the beach. And eat at clam shacks like Captain Frosty's. And watch baseball games (free) of the Cape Cod Summer League. And stroll down main streets in the villages. And go for ice cream at any of the high school kid staffed mom 'n pop creameries after dinner. For a day trip, you can take a ferry to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard. During the summer buses run on the islands, so you don't have to take a car on the ferry. If you must take a car, then book that space early. Like now. The Atlantic side of the Cape tends to be warmer. The Cape Cod Bay side has colder water. But the tide is much more dramatic (IMO) on the Cape Cod Bay side. It's shallow, so the tide goes in and out by about a quarter mile. Great for kids and tide pools. Personally, I'd rather have a beach front rental on the Cape Cod Bay side. I'd wake up early in the morning, grab my son (he was an early riser), and we'd get doughnuts to eat on the beach, and go stomping through tide pools at 6 am. The Cape's a great place to visit. It's absolutely gorgeous. Not to take anything away from the people who do it for a living, but I joke that even a blind man could be a professional photographer on the Cape.

He he, it sounds like if you drive up there now and get in line, you might get a place for June.
Seriously, I hope you get a great place. I'm jealous. |
