Where do you guys get your truck tires?

I need a set of stock truck tires for my Dodge diesel. They are 235 85 16 load range D. Have you guys use the cheaper tires instead of your Goodyear, BFG, or Firestone? I am having a hard time paying my local guy $235 per tire. The light truck commercial tires will be fine. Any advantages to that? Do you think they last longer then normal tires? I have them on now and like them. They work well. I have been on Tirerack for the past half hour reading and looking them up. No real luck. any suggestions?

Goodyear Silent Armor E load tires will last 60,000 miles, ride well and give extra stability.

Very happy with the Firestone Destination AT on my wife's Armada.

Put new sneakers on the DD last month and just ordered a set for the Tahoe.

Best deals I found were Walmart online.

They've got a bunch of inventory only available online with free direct to store shipping. Mounting, tire disposal all included.

The price you see, plus tax of course, is all you pay.

Caution buying tires from Costco . Although quality might be good as the price , the age of the tires sitting on the shelf might be rather old (might have sat there for years).

On a recent post on the Ford truck forums guy bragged about the sweet price of the tires he had just bought , untill it was pointed out the "new" tires he had just bought were in fact 6 years old .

I have the same size tires on my dually. It had toyos on it when I bought it, still had 1/2 tread life. Found both front tires had developed bubbles on the inside side wall. I replaced them with cheap tires, centennial canyon climbers. One of those on the front had steel cords sticking out of it after about 5k miles. Those diesel engines are heavy, I have 5000lbs on the front axle. Replaced all 6 with Michelins, 30k miles and no problems.

WalMart carries (or carried?) Uniroyal Liberators in that size and they were like $125 a tire for LR E. They had an agressive All Terrain design, but were smooth and quiet.

I agree with Daniel....Hands down, the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors are THE BEST load E All-Terrain tires on the market, but priced accordingly. I have them on my trucks. I buy them from my local Goodyear dealer, who sells them to me for $10 over cost.

The Tire Rack is the best place to order tires. Even with shipping (no sales tax!) they are cheaper than many discount places, and cheaper than some of my wholesale accounts. I have a wholesale Tire Rack account and that's even better.

If you weren't willing to step up to the Goodyear SAs, consider the Yokohama Geolanders or the General Grabber AT2s.

Buy my Michelin LTX tires at Costco. Probably save a couple hundred dollars per set. Get about 40000miles. I can't see tires being old with the amount of volume the Costco here goes thru. This was a problem recently when I had to make a 2 week appointment to get them mounted.

Same here. I Am approaching 40k on them and they still look great. Costco moves some inventory.

I bought 6 Goodyear tires for my dually from Walmart on line and at the time they had free shipping to the store, free mounting and balancing. It saved me about 35% over any other place I checked. The local store with a tire center tried to get out of having to do the free mounting and balancing but I complained to the store manager and he made them do it and then they had to use floor jacks as their lifts were not big enough for a dually!

Maybe it's just the sizes I need but I find Costco to be one of the most expensive options with a very limited selection.

The tires I currently have on my dodge dually are the Pep Boys, Dakota Definitys

I'm very happy with them. Have done plenty of heavy towing., great in all types of weather. Plus the seem to be wearing very well. From what ive researched, they are made by Cooper.

Michelin truck tires will dry rot before you wear them out. Damned good tires, but they are pricey.

thanks. I checked Walmart's site, but they don't seem to carry too many tires. Forgot about Pepboys. I am doing it right now.

Did you click the link in my 1st post?

There's at least 25 choices under $200.

Shop for the best prices, of course, but do not scrimp on quality. Not with tires. Tires are hands-down, the absolute most important performance parts on your car.

I got a set of tires for my van couple weeks ago from big O tire. They have several a promotions total of $200 off. I think $50 off instant, a $75 and a $50 rebates. I got all the rebates by now.
Alignment is $70. Sears want $90. And plus fee to replace the tire pressure sensor. Sears said if I don't, sensor will fail (most of the time) and the light will stay on. Big O guy laught out lound and sai that he'll warranty he can do it without breaking the sensor. Dealer laught at what sears guy said too.

If you are looking on line, be sure to search by size only. I found the stock size was smaller than what my truck had on it and some places really argue against selling tires that are not the factory original size. The Costco here in Chula Vista and Pep Boys was that way.
