was that a common problem in "Grass" Valley?

Drdogface 03-28-2012 01:12 PM

LOL....not here that I know of but I went to Vet School in Iowa many moons ago. LOTS of dairy and beef are raised there. It was not uncommon to go on an ambulatory call for such a problem on local farms.

Also lots of 'weed' grows wild along RR tracks there...or did at the time.

Brain, skin, and tendons are regenerative, but supposedly heart muscles and ligaments are not.

(the following not medical advice)
Fiber helps with the"straining". I've heard quite a few heart attacks happen on the toilet, just like Elvis at 42. Different foods contribute to or negate peristolyic action(physical transportation of material).

Fiber moves it all.
Without fiber, it all becomes gummy, immovable sludge.
It was rumored at his autopsy, John Wayne had 45 pounds of undigested beef in his gut. Watch the movies again. That's a big baby to be carrying around.

When the colon is blocked, it can blow up like a ballon and cause diverculitis and pockets of rotting bacteria. Even young athletes with protein-only diets can get this(once read of some guy who ate 12 eggs with steak per day).

If the rolleyes was in response to my post, I hope you'll share please.
I was trying to be factual and appreciate different viewpoints.

The only way that someone could have 45 lbs. of undigested beef in them is if they just ate it and hadn't shat yet. That's part of what's not true in the post.

BTW, you guys are talking about "keeping things moving" down there. Metamucil and things like that are your friend, as well is a salad every 2-3 days. Makes a big difference...

It was about the 45# of undigested beef in John Wayne's colon... That kinda rumor...mostly advertising scam...has been around for decades. I thought everyone would know by now. It's the kinda rumor that's propagated by those trying to scam you into buying all sorts of junky products and procedures.

Sorry if I offended you...really SmileWavy

What Joe said is absolutely true. Fiber 'holds' water in the ingesta and keeps it from drying out and becoming hard...and hard to pass. Metamucil style products also have some mucous type lube as part of their function. Straining can cause all kinds of health probs as has been discussed before. All digestion and absorption of nutrients is done in the small intestine. The large intestine is to absorb water but absorbing too much ain't good either. Moving stuff along also prevents the absorption of some toxic byproducts... To be healthy one should pass everything you eat in 24 hr or less.

Fresh red beets or hot wings with that naga joloka sauce are great to time your system with. The first one you'll think there's an emergency until you remember the beets - the second one is just an emergency...
