WWII Stinson L-5

A buddy I fly with just closed a deal an a beautiful Stinson L-5. It is an early model that belonged to a friend who died and the family wanted it to go to a great home. Now here is the Good part, my buddy has a L4 and a Pt 26 and now an L5. He has soloed the L4 but I haven't checked him out in the Pt26 yet and now I have to go pick up the L5 in two weeks. He wants to fly me to pick up the L5 in the L4 and we will fly them both back to 52F. The L5 is amazingly done in one of the best builds I have seen. The pre buy inspection showed it needed a new battery and had to be started with an APU, and that was the only issue. I will have to post pictures and a video.

The Stinsons were rugged good airplanes. Haven't seen one in a while. Kermit Weeks has one I think in his museum. Post a pic of the 26 too. We had one when I was little.

I know Kermit Weeks, I tried to sell him a Fieseler Fi 156 Storch years ago. He flew his F4U Corsair to Denton Texas and I drove him to a grass strip to fly the Storch.

Yes thanks for the pics. It shows how far modern small aircraft have come since those early a/c. But there is definite charm in those old a/c. Probably cheaper to fix too. Eye candy.

Put a sealed battery in the L-5 and you will be happier. I just put one in the Sedan and love it!

A sealed battery is in the purchase agreement.

I did tell my buddy that this plane was for sale and would look good in his hanger. The L5 has 1800TT and 14 on the engine a 0435 overhauled in 2010
