I have an app for that

App development - I'm jumping in. Anyone else published one or thinking about it? I have some great ideas. Excite.

Knowing you, it will be success.

Wait, I don't know you.

I looked at it, and registered as a developer, but I haven't had the time. We had a good idea for a useful app, but it wouldn't have been a moneymaker as it was for a nonprofit org. Would have been a freebie.....

I envision a game, where you're in a triangular shaped spaceship, defending yourself with rapid laser dot canons against a random path almost certain collisions with large asteroids.........you're blasting them into medium asteroids, then smaller asteroids...........then OH CRAP, here comes a saucer shaped alien craft coming at your ship firing it's own rapid laser dot canon........

I'm sure an app like this would be great success and make you rich!

Many people would swarm to a game like this!

Seriously,

My cell phone, is this flip open thingy like a Star Trek Communicator, that amazingly, you speak into, to um well, communicate via voice where the person on the other end responsed via vocal interaction with you.

Do kids even make soup can tin can and string "telephones" anymore? Geezus, even 5-6 year old have their own cell phone these days.

Proud to say I've never sent nor received one text message in my entire 50 year old life.

And I can still read and fold a paper map..........how many youth of today even know how to work a compass, yes a magnetized metal stick thing floating in liquid with the numbers 0 - 360 around the big circle thingy.

Internet alarm clock. Uses weather and traffic reports to tell you when to wake up.

You're welcome.

School bus alarm clock. Tells me when the bus will be here, in the am and pm. nice to know if the bus is on time when its raining or cold out.

I think the business model is to develop others ideas and take a cut.....

Only if you don't have to put money in it.

This guy was a friend of my dad's and wrote the first edition of this back in the 70's. He's a brilliant man.

The mantra is to sell the idea for an advance on royalties. He has over 100 patents doing just that, paying him royalties while he thinks of more.

It's certainly a way to mitigate risk and when you are putting up the cash the risk is huge and all yours.

Been in the business for nearly 25 years.

The risk can make you very wealthy very quickly but it can also make you flat broke before the ink dries on the cheque.

If you have thrill issues and like getting sued the risk side is for you.

BTDTGTS too many times now.

It's really only part of the model I'm targeting..... the iPhone / android generation has a byproduct of individuals that have great ideas for apps that have no ability to take those ideas and turn them into apps. I want to buy the best of those ideas and develop them... to make ends meet till you get an app that hits you can contract out development services....

Ahhh, I see, when you say "develop others ideas" I hear, "I'm a for hire developer being paid milestones and royalties to develop other peoples apps".

Really depends on the types of apps that we are talking about.

I've been doing games for half my life.

It's an ugly business and even though developers come and go daily I'd still rather not be in publishing any more.

Yea, game development is better left to the experts. niche apps can still be exploited because they haven't been discovered yet. I'm obviously not an expert but can see a market for a company with some capital, vision and development expertise.

I could really use some sort of ho tracking software. I'd like to know vital stats like 'johns served', services preformed, and GPS tracking so I know where my girls are at anytime.
