How do you fight motorcycle ADD?

The first time I drove a motorcycle was February 2011. The DRZ400 has been fun, but I'm already thinking about the next bike. I want more storage, better wind protection, longer legs for longer trips, fuel injection, and less vibration. Sounds reasonable, right?

So why am I gaga when this shows up on craigslist:

Zero storage
No wind protection
Bet it would suck on trips over 15 miles
Going from one carb to four carbs!

I'm trying to talk myself into a modern middleweight japanese standard bike. This is clearly a step in the wrong direction.

A friend of mine is the biggest bike swapper I have heave heard of. He had had over 100 different bikes in the last 10 years. Never never has more than two at a time.

Tough to fight. A CB400SS was my first street bike. Tons of fun but I outgrew it quickly. I'd like to pick up a CB750SS at some point to have as a weekend fun toy. The 400 for me over time was just to small but that depends on your size and what type of riding you do. I now have a VFR750 and BMW1150GS in my garage.

There's no fighting it. Just give in and enjoy!

My fleet circa 2010:

Only one of these five remains in my garage today, but it's not alone.

Jurgen,

The only way to know a motorcycle, is to experience every single one of them . Get the bike, spend time with it and you'll find out if its for you or not. If its not, then put it in the living room and go out and get another one.

There's no fighting it, and I'm lusting something red and Italian. I know this will cost my ass.

Just registering and paying taxes on a bike will cost a couple hundred dollars. x100? That's almost $20K in silly fees, alone! Granted that may be over 10 years, but holy smokes that's a lot of money down the drain.

Red and Italian? That's the best kind!

Just remember the mantra: German cars, Italian motorcycles. That's all you need to know.

Nothing wrong with vintage Japanese bikes--you won't regret the CB(unless you get an itch for a 750)

I'm down to two...the fewest I've had in the fleet since the mid-90's. I'm shopping for #3, just don't tell my wife.

Just suck it up, there is no cure.

What is the one on the far right. A BMW what?

I am thinking of getting an on and off road bike.

I don't think you can go wrong with the CB400F. Ride it until you are tired of it and then sell it for what you paid. They are practically collector bikes now. I am loving mine. But it is a little far from stock.

Turbo - If you buy that 400, I have a spare right hand side cover or two. Recently sold a blue on exactly like that one....

I had the 1981 Kawasaki GPZ550 all over my walls.... I was in love with that bike. I missed a 100% original, 4,000 mile example just a few days ago. Outbid. Dang.
