Video conversion, why so annoying?
I'm using some golf swing analyzing software and have taken some nice vids with a flip cam but it turns out I can't import that format to the program. It wants quicktime, which you would think is fine but I'm on my third shareware program which claims to do the conversion and they are all horrible to use and/or crash.
So...is there a simple free program to convert AVI or MP4 vids to Quicktime?

Quicktime is a generic term. What it is is a framework that deals with all aspects of multimedia.
AVI and MP4 are containers. Containers can contain info in various CO/DEC's. What is the exact make/model of your camera. Some manufacturers employ custom or modified CO/DEC's that make them a pain in the ass to convert.

Do you have Quicktime player on your machine?
Assuming Windows box. Think your wife has a Mac though? Have you tried opening in Quicktime and simply doing a File->Save As?

If you want to convert without the resulting watermark, try SUPER. I've been using this for a few years now and have found it to be the most versatile application for this sort of thing. It works with practically all forms of video and can convert to a myriad of formats. It even allows for tweaking the resulting bit rate, output video size and such.
You can download it here. Randy
