8ish hours in LA on Sat.

My wife and I will be in LA this Saturday starting at 2pm and the next morning we head north. What should a person see or eat LA in such a short time frame? Wife likes to hike so thinking about walking up and back from Venice Beach to Santa Monica Pacific Park. She also wants a fish taco. Just glad she wants nothing to do with shopping.

Thanks,

For such a short stay, walking the Venice Beach board walk should be a good thing. The weather this weekend at the beach will be chilly. We have some rain in the forecast for Fri/Sat.

That or you can rent a couple of bicycles in Venice and cruise further.

When you arrive, lunch at Jerry's Famous Deli, then The Stinking Rose or Lowry's Prime Rib for a late(r) dinner. Breakfast sunday am in the farmers market - aside from breakfast there, stop by little john's candies and get some of their butter toffee

Stinking Rose? Lowrys? Wouldn't be my choices. You can get prime rib most anywhere in the US. While in LA, get stuff that you can't find elsewhere.

Depends on where you're staying. If you're in Venice or Santa Monica, then you can walk the beach and see plenty of interesting things. I'm not a fish taco fan, but plenty of them around (Wahoo's, which is a small local chain is ok). If you're on the westside, I'd suggest hitting the dim sum at The Palace on Wilshire Bl Sunday morning on the way out of town. If you like sushi, I'm a fan of Sugarfish (locations in Marina del Rey and Santa Monica). And if you're in Santa Monica on Sat night, you can listen to a jazz trio for free at 212 Pier

Head down to Long Beach and watch the ALMS race, which is Saturday night at 4:30.
