It all started when I was 8 years old.
I saw this car racing at a small hill climb track in Victoria Australia. Its the 1974 Paris motor show Turbo Prototype. After that my dad had a series of 911s One of them a Silver 930 he had in the late 80s. Its the same car I now own after tracking it down 20 years latter. Bottom pic of Dad and I , with the 930 we have both loved. :) http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/...3-800-6001.jpg http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/.../bill20111.jpg |
Great stories guys, I must have watched that commercial 10 times now.

!978. Met a girl driving a 914. It wasn't hers, she had borrowed it from a friend. Married the girl two years later and bought the 914 three years after that.
Still have the same wife and car after all these years.SmileWavy |
I guess this isn't what is being discussed

When I was about 11 and walking through the back alleys, I came upon a a wheel in a metal garbage can sticking partially out of the top.
I picked out the mag and took it home. It had a fracture around it's radius. I figured it was one of those mags from the hotrod magazines. American Mag? I kept it in my room and thought it was the coolest thing ever. If it wasn't so heavy and it was actually very light I'd wear the thing on a chain around my neck. I found out then it wasn't an A.Mag and was a FUCHS. I was very curious on what this beautiful wheel came off of. I then found out from the library what the wheel came off of. I was stuck. |
Mike, great story! Do you still have the wheel?
