The whole NC state SBI forensics unit has been in big trouble recently due to hiding evidence that doesn't get convictions. I used to live in NC for 12 years as of 1 year ago.

What really blew me away was when, at the end of the hearing at the end, after hearing loads of evidence pointing to the man's innocence, the prosecutar had the gaul to tell the judges that they presented not a shred of testimony that would lead to a finding of innocent. WTF? What kind of low-life dirt bag is he?

Indeed, then had the nerve to say, "I felt shaking his hand was the honorable thing to do." That guy is in on it for sure. What a dirtbag. Were I the wrongly convicted guy I certainly would have been guilty plotting my own justice for him and the cop after that....

I'm disgusted that there was no legal action placed on the prosecuter and others involved with deliberately hiding evidence. Shouldn't those judges be doing something about it. They sure didn't seem upset....

What Ford was saying was that Taylor's defense provided no testimony of their own. Remember, the defense attorney was hanging his hat on the charge being dismissed based on lack of evidence from the prosecution. He presented no defense other than cross-x of the state witnesses, for which the prosecutor did give credit. However, the defense should have called Barbara, the woman that picked Taylor and Beck up near the crime scene.

The fact that hundreds of cases were potentially tainted by the practices of the SBI and its lab is horrifying. Another man that was released after nearly 17 years won $3.9 million in compensatory damages. This kind of justice system is no justice at all. I have seen where police rush to judgement and pursue a single assumption without hardly a speck of evidence and in the face of conflicting eyewitness testimony. When you have people in that system that will conceal evidence that clearly reveals someone's innocence, you wind up with the state robbing citizens of their lives.
