If you follow the VHND site, this was filmed at the Roxy about six weeks ago and then VH decided to simply stay there for their tour rehearsals for a few more weeks. Must have been a real thrill for the folks who worked there. Though I think their cell phones must have been locked up the whole time because just about nothing snuck out about this.

They had snippets on the website a couple of weeks ago. I see Wolfie is doing bass sporting Dad's old paint scheme. Eddie doing his old schtick about how someone 'quit' the other saying, 'nope'.....Mike Anthony and Sammy are with Chickenfoot.....Eddie made him sign away VH rights and royalties....what a douche.

They look.....old.....if that is a sample of the new stuff. I'd stick to the old hits, otherwise bomb city.

Tickets go on sale this saturday for the Pittsbugh show--you can guarantee I will be there, esp to see them with Diamond Dave.

No Michael sucks, but I will take what I can get.

I might make it to the Pittsburgh show too. Been a while since I've seen VH there.

Will live in 2012 be anything like live in 1981?

Should we start a betting pool on how many shows it takes for Eddie to wind up in rehab?

I don't think so. They have a bass player to cover his lines, and it would be fairly easy to find a backing vocalist or two that can do the harmony parts. They just have chosen to go as a 4-piece. They could "fix it" if they wanted to, but for whatever reason they aren't.

Bass lines are not the issue. Obviously, MA's bass lines are easy for anyone to cover. But I'd suggest his backing vocals are every bit as much a part of the classic VH sound as is EVH's guitar. Everyone who saw the last tour in '07-'08 knows the backing vocals were piped in, ala Milli Vanilli, or they had someone backstage doing it with a mic. I don't want to dump on Wolfgang. I'd take that gig in a cocaine heartbeat too. But the kid has no band experience other than jamming at home with Dad and Uncle Al. He doesn't look like he's ever played out before and it detracts from the onstage chemistry.

BTW, back around the Fair Warning era, Ed wanted to fire Mike and offered the gig to Billy Sheehan. Billy turned it down because he also liked the classic VH sound just the way it was and didn't want to change it. Imagine what that would have been like.....before the trainwreck.

Billy Sheehan (and Steve Vai) rocked it hard with David Lee Roth's solo project after the original flame-out. I wish it lasted more than a couple albums.
