Just learned while eating lunch and watching the news. Wow! is all I can say! He was one of the best of people as far as professional athletes are concerned and seemed to have it all together. Admired and super well liked in the community. It's a sad day. Condolences to his friends & family.

Unbelievable. He had some personal problems but was one of the good guys who had done a whole lot for the community. How horrible for his kids.

Met him several times when I worked in the service industry. I recall being blown away by how physically large he was - he took the space of two people at the bar. He was a sincerely nice person and had a great smile and friendly laugh. As far as sports role models go Junior was at the top.

I heard it this am.. unfortunately we've had a few threads here on suicide.. it's the big elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about...

The biggest elephant is that fame, success and fortune don't buy peace. Too many people trading in the 2nd wife, the 3rd house, the 5th job, and the10th car but still don't have peace in their soul. I won't say anything more so as to keep the thread out of PARF.

The news folks have had all sorts of suicide talking heads on the news shows since this happened and one noted that in San Diego county and LA county, there is one suicide a day on average and that means around 120 have done this and this is the only one we have heard about............

Wouldn't surprise me. Every day we learn more and more about the relationship betweeen repeated blows to the head and depression. Andre Waters, the Philadelphia safety, shot himself in the heart specifically so that his brain could be examined.

I love both auto racing and football. I don't love what they too often do to the participants.

Junior was a class act all the way. Many factors at work here. I do not mean to generalize, and am not saying it applies to Junior. but too many hits, too much money, too many women, too many drugs etc. On top of that a pro athlete retires and there is a huge let down. RIP Junior, see you in the Hall of Fame.
