Old Stereo Stuff - Keep Or Get Rid?
Cleaning out the garage. Found my old stereo components. Keeping the NAD turntable. Should I goodwill the Denon CD player and Denon tuner, or keep in case I ever decide to have a stereo again? Is this stuff crap or worthwhile? Circa 1990-ish I think.

I sold Denon when I was in college (part time job). I loved Denon...and Luxman.
You need to find a use for it. I have to assume that you already have a better garage stereo????

Denon was pretty good stuff. NOT cutting edge but good.

Denon has a bit of a following. Put it on Craigslist and someone will buy the stuff. I just sold a broken Denon receiver for $20 yesterday. There were at least 4 guys wanting it.

John,
I say keep it. As I type, I am listening to a 1970's vintage Concept 7.5d powering my in wall speakers. Big old iron transformers are good for being forgiving on the weird load changes of adding and deleting speaker sets. Of course I am a bit of a pack-rat! Larry |

I've got a Marantz 2270 in my garage I've had since 1976. Bought my senior year of high school. Should probably ditch it, as probably worth $5 but it has sentimental value...

I never get rid of an amp. CD players are not really worth much any more.

2270 should sell for $100-$200 depending on condition.

Still got my 1971 college Sansui 210 receiver and speakers with a Phillips 210 Turntable. I have not removed them from their boxes for 20 years but just can't seem to figure out what to do with them.

If not, the answer is simple... pull it all out, hook it up, and make some sweet noise. ![]() You'll be glad you did.

I still use my Sansui separate tuner and amp every day as part of my stereo set up. Bought it in 1976 and still works and sounds great. I like the old school look. No digital just a weighted dial to change stations and lots of switches.

I've got my Yamaha CA800 amp and CT810 tuner that I bought in 1977. Can't bear to get rid of 'em, but haven't got 'em set up, either. Remote volume control is just too handy, so my garage and home systems have both got that feature. I think what i may do is set up a listening environment for vinyl; then, those vintage components would become the backbone . . .

It's still valuable. Ironically I had many of the same components and wished I had kept them for nostalgia alone.

The big Pioneer amps from the 70s have a huge following.

I need to have my Dynaco 400 and PAT pre-amp brought back to spec. But no one knows how to work on them anymore.

We had a house fire the other night. This guys house was loaded with crap. Worst ive ever been in. One of those hoarders. His hallway and one room was literally stacked floor to ceiling with old stereo equipment. Must have had thirty Teac reel-reels piled up. tons of old amps, recievers etc. Noticed a few old high end items stuffed in there. Marantz, Crown
Of course most of it ended up in a burnt, soot and water covered pile out in the yard. ![]()
