Ferrari Maranello

A good friend of mine is selling his Ferrari Maranello, and has given me first dibs. Grey with burgundy leather and only 18,000 pampered km. These are one of the few Ferraris I've always liked, and always read good things about.

I like the fact that this car borders on a GT rather than strict sports car, because touring is what I do best.

I'm seriously thinking of going over to the dark side, but thought I would ask your input first. I know there are a few Ferrari guys in the house (motion, lowyder etc)

The prices of these cars are remarkably low here in Europe. And I would get a very sweet deal.

Any thoughts, comments or advice greatly appreciated.

Should post on Ferrarichat.com - lots of good F-car info and enthusiasts over there. Good site.

Maranello, as in 550 or 575?

They're great cars, undervalued (IMHO), and follow the V12 long-hood / short-deck formula that has been true to Ferrari since the very first road car.

Rather than tell you what to watch out for, I'd point you to FerrariChat (I'm Kaisen there as well) 456/550/575 - FerrariChat.com

You can't go wrong. From what I know of your personality and tastes, it would suit you perfectly.

I don't know much about them but they're certainly a lot better looking than some of the older cars.

Hey why not?

It's going to be expensive but you already knew that.

Dottore, I'll be in Germany in a few weeks and would be happy to help you break her in.

I sure wouldn't want to talk anyone down from a Ferrari... except a 308. Excellent choice! You only go 'round once!

Don't know the cars well enough to offer any info other than to congratulate you on having such a high quality problem, i.e. whether or not to buy friend's Ferrari in Europe.

Most of the lists are closed/private on F-Chat unless you already own one and vouched for by other members...

It must suck to be you....

As motion said, you only go 'round once... Doesn't seem like the money will be an issue for it. Did you really need to ask!?

Well after spending a few hours on Ferrari chat, this seems to be an easy decision. No one seems to have anything bad to say about these cars.

Many thanks for all the comments. I'll keep you posted.

Welcome to the fold...as 1 poster on F-chat put it "...only .000001% of the world's population will own a Ferrari."

Is it like this?

Nice ride! I am partial to the early 70's Dino but above would be more friendly for cruising.
