How do you Blow Off STEAM???
Don't know why, but I've been very very on edge lately.
Life is good, nothing to complain or whine about. (in general, when you think life is tough and you want to whine, go to a hospital ER room, and bleeding people on a back-board / gurney will humble you up quick) but I just want to........well.............blow off some steam. so how do you? Fire arms? Fast car drive through twisty windies? Moto-cross beat up the body, Power shopping (that is just for you poser metro-sexuals, I hate hate hate malls) Read the Bible(s) pick your flavor. kick a homeless person under a bridge. soooooooo. how does the Pelican members blow off steam.??? Serious questions and it might be healthy therapy for many of us to share ways to vent.

Lots of hearing protection, big heavy diesel tractor, and till the living shy*e out of the weeds growing out back. Well, at least last few weekends that's what I did. Oh, and there's this weedeater I have with a saw blade instead of string. I did that for about 6 hours.

Not really blowing off steam, but to get back my sanity and loose the edge to really find peace i like to take a kayak run (flatwater) for a few hours in the mountains.
Gathers my thoughts, lets me get back to nature, get some exercise, and tune out the world. Bob

I take a drive in the 911 if possible. It doesn't have to be a fast ride, just out and about, enjoying the sounds. I always seem to be in a better mood after.
If that's not an option, I will tinker in the garage or with one of other vehicles, work in the yard, just kick back with some old car magazines. Ya know, sex is good for the mind and body as well. Seriously, it releases good hormones or something like that.

I need to find an outlet. Since I sold the 911, it's only been the 318is and it's just not the same.
I need to get back on my exercise program as well. |

I don't get that way very often, but when I do, I go for a good twisty drive, ringing the car out for all its worth. Life could be worse.

It's interesting you bring up this subject, and the points you mentioned.
Two weeks ago my face got a two inch slash to the bone just below my eye. Man was I pissed off. My girlfriend kept saying I was so lucky it didn't get my eye. I said "No, lucky is it missing me completely, or me not having got out of bed today." But while waiting two hours... at the accident and emergency 5 ambulances came in, and they were just the ones I saw. I kept hearing "Can you feel me touching your toes." from the doctors and saw a guy strapped to a gurney who looked fine but had no feeling from the spine down. A few days later when I had cooled off, I realised I was lucky and the guy on the gurney wasn't. His was bad luck. Probably driving to work the very moment someone decided to run a red light or something like that. Today I decided to have an "angry free" day. It doesn't matter what happens I won't get angry. Yesterday a neighbour had cut down a tree on my property and I was FURIOUS working out what sort of death would be best for him. But I went and reported it to the police as he had been previously warned about tresspass. I felt good after that and decided it was someone elses problem now. |

1 1/2 hours of singletrack (Mountainbike) is really good.
Evening in the garage is great, too. A nice drive (911) - weather permitting. Taking 1/2 hour and helping my 8 year old practice her guitar is the best! |

Something physical. Batting cage, bike ride, dig up a big root ball. Hard to be riled up when you're tired. Or smoke a doobie.

Tae Kwon Do - I get to break boards and not have to fix them. Even pummeling and kicking the bag can be soothing especially picturing the cause of your stress as a target.
A twisty drive alone with no one in your way.

I never build up any steam, so I never have to blow off any. I've always been very detached from those kinds of situations and look at them as problems to be solved. Maybe that's a bad trait - don't know.
