Bummer, saw that he was being treated for salivary gland cancer but the article did not attribute that to his passing although no official cause was given.

Ipod tribute to the boys will be held tonite in my garage.

Damn........

Years later, seeing them live is still the best concert I've ever been to. They performed for over two hours of high tempo show, then came back out for two encores.

Sad indeed, the Beasties have been on the soundtrack of my life off and on since the first album. One of my all time favorite "poached" shows to have been caught just outside the rim of the Santa Barbara bowl from the free seats. They certainly created a whole genre that has been copied ever since.

Sucks to go out like that- R.I.P.

Just heard this, sad news. Saw them in DC in college, still have memories of that show.

I'm bummed. I thought he was getting better?

I was really hoping to see them in what was to be their next tour.

That's too bad. The beasties are cool.
"she's crafty" is one of my all time favorite songs.

very sad. Beastie Boys are generally underappreciated, IMO. Very good song writers, musically creative and never, ever took themselves too seriously.

I've been listening to Ill Communication for about 2 weeks... it used to be my least favorite album but it has really "clicked" with me lately

My CDs are long gone (had them all), but I downloaded a copy of "Solid Gold Hits" for my iPhone a few months ago. Nice mix across all of their albums.

That's too young.
RIP Adam.

Great music.

On Paul Revere:

"I think that the whole concept of trying the drum backwards was a mistake, and then it turned into a record. Everybody was congratulating themselves on how creative they were, but in fact, it was really a mistake." - Russell Simmons.

mistake or not, it was creative.
