4.20 a gal. here. Sucks big time especially when my truck holds 280 gals.

If I recall correctly, it wasn't that long ago that diesel was cheaper than gas, not it's more expensive. I suppose if enough people get electric cars electricity will be more expensive than either diesel or gas.
Isn't that the way it goes?? |

I drove a Diesel from 1985-1990, it's a conspiracy.
They don't want Americans switching to Diesel, the oil companies make more money selling gas and the by-products which comes from it. Do some research on Rockefeller and Standard oil.

The US refineries exports a lot of the refined products. This has some effect on pricing. The east coast has limited refinery capacity and those still there are fighting to stay profitable when competing with refineries in the Gulf state that can process "other than sweet" crude. So it may get worst there. If the refineries don't upgrade (not a good investment for them) they will shut down and more refined products will have to be shipped or piped to the NE. Pipeline capacity is limited so something will have to happen. Invest in pipelines running NE from the Gulf.

On aspect of pricing is regional demand. The US Energy Information Agency published some good information about fuel pricing recently, but they didn't address regional demand on price. Pretty bad oversight. Regional demand means station owners have some latitude to raise or lower prices....just watch the price change amongst your local stations. Some happen in days or even hours!

Here is a 10 yr history of what you pay for a gallon of diesel: refining cost, distribution cost, crude cost and taxes.

Regular fuel has been up and down over the past few weeks. One day it's 3.63, the next it's 3.99. I don't even bother checking the price anymore. When I need it I get it. No, I'm not "that rich I don't have to care", it's just that I can't change it so why bother. I fuel up the Mazda today and it was 3.99 for regular.

This is why we are selling diesel trucks and buying CNG trucks.... Almost the same MPG, and 1.11 to 1.78/gge....

Diesel price variations are tremendous. Some stations appear to carry diesel only to be able to offer the full selection of fuels. Not sure what their business model is charging $.50 / gal or more over others in town. What I find is that diesel is also cheaper along truck routes, compared to urban and suburban neighborhoods. G |

I just got a biodiesel system and hope to be making my own fuel very soon! As diesel is about $4.30 a gal. here. I just want to make about 30 gal. a week for my Unimogs and tractor.
