Question about traveling in Chicago

My 20 year old daughter needs to get from Midway to Loyola University, with luggage. She has never traveled there before. Any recommendations? Taxi?

Unless cabs in Chicago have fixed rates hire a town car.

there's both sedan and minivan based taxi's at midway.

guestimate about $50-$60.

a hired "limo" will be about the same.

are you/is she familiar with the loyola area? have u/her been here before? edgewater/roger's park area is .....so-so safety. the El is fine during day. college girl at nite...probably not.

What time of day? How much luggage?

It's very easy to take the train from Midway to downtown, then another train up to Loyola. However depending on the time of day, that may not be the best option. Last memorial day I took the train home from Midway at about 11pm on my way home from Vegas. Very interesting experience. I will be taking a cab this memorial day on my way home.

i used to take the orange line from midway to downtown. there are cops and dogs on the trains.

If not a lot of luggage...
Mid day arrival Orange line train to downtown is fine.
That said,
As in any big city, situational awareness is key. Be alert.
There is a downtown Loyola campus and then the main campus further north.
Google up the CTA transit map.
If she's in desperation for a direct ride, pm me and depending on arrival time, I could possibly get one of my downtown "hipster" daughters to get her to her destination safely. They owe me a lifetime of favours

If she taking the train it is pretty straight forward. Orange line into the city. Transfer from elevated tracks at Washington/Randolph west to State street to the Red Line subway. North to Loyola exit.
