Juan, does modern paint work better for what your doing? Even compared to say paint in the 80's? Does the new stuff shine up better?

The Car Care industry has seen a lot of changes, during the 80’s the clears became the standard; this had much better gloss and held it longer than older lacquer and enamel single stage paints. Today the amount of gloss on a new vehicle is due more to the processes from the automobile manufacture that the plant follows than any other item that determines gloss.

I like today’s finishes a lot, but some of them. I find them very hard to work with; the first one that comes to mind is the Nissan GTR.

For the shine, the secret is simple; with the correct preparation, you will get a nice shine/protection.

Now check how crazy this is; Times are certainly changing.

Shouldn't you be somewhere else whining about your ex-wife? That girl car could probably give your 928 a run for its money, while getting double the MPG and hauling four people and their stuff.

Whatever.

It's not so much the car but the way that Juan does his magic on paint that we enjoy him sharing with us.

Plasti-Dip.
I used Plasti-Dip on the grill and window trim on our BMW a few years ago. it worked very well but only with the proper prep work.

In fact I used it on my MAZDA front emblem to make it the "Angry M".

I just clay bar'd the hardtop of my Lotus as preparation to do the whole car tomorrow.

First time I'd done the clay. I washed it, clay, then buffed it with some scratch remover which cut it down a bit (but not as much as needed for a few small scuffs) and then 2 coats of Carnauba.

Totally amazed.

My Lotus is color called 'Chili Red' which is the standard Lotus Ardent Red (like a Guards Red) except it has gold flake and pearl in it. Looks normal red until the sun hits it and the it goes orange.

It's one of the best options on the car. Also one of the most expensive, and would be a ***** to match if it needed repair.

I've been doing clay for years, it's amazing stuff. I need to try an oxidation bar like Juan uses, you get the results of clay in a much more convenient medium.

Isn't the Mazda Miata the most tracked car in North America?

Chili Red is an awesome color and looks great on an Elise.

Most tracked car in the world is what Mazda advertises. More Mazdas are on racetracks on any given weekend than any other make. Mazdaspeed even has a racing support program, if you can document that you track your car they will sell repair parts essentially at cost.
