I've been meaning to take pictures of all the Westy's I see on my bicycle commute thru the neighborhood to work.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's ten within 3 miles of me.

Who knew there was gold in them thar westy's ?

removing the fuel tank to replace bad sending unit is:

a purple 5 star mofo sass a frassin sheeet purple 5 star mofo mofo MOFO!

you will need (3) four foot pry bars and 3 people. 2 people..............its real fun. trust me.............NOT!

its is fitted so tight. getting back in is the exact MOFO repeat.

and for our next trick kiddies....................we will attempt to FAB/INSTALL a complete A/C unit in a 4wd synchro TRANSPORTER that NEVER HAD A/C! this is a 3 door pick-up bed version.

already talked to kuehl about it and hes gonna make us up some routes to go.

totally different from westy pop up a/c. as a/c lines run drivers side top thru cabinets and then down to compressor.
now ya know why i dont sleep well at night some nights.

Do your Al fuel rails have a small diaphragm at the ends? I noticed that the stock plastic ones do have that - I wonder if it is for some sort of pressure regulation.

I kept my stock ones bud did shine them up with Meguairs...

I also have not yet replaced the fuel pressure regulator.

And, BTW - the idiot VW engineers ran the fuel lines right where they will shoot gas on the exhaust system when they fail.

I agree with getting rid of all the plastic (including that coolant tower) -- I just have not done it all yet...

plastic just sucks. this is where the oetikers come into play also with all the damn fuel lines. i now call them the "box 911". they are that involved. and when they BURN.................they BURN REAL GOOD! ask how we know snooping thru junk yards for lil doo daa parts we cant find anywhere.

goodridge(not bfg goodrich) is where we got all the fuel line.

westy approved /911 ragtop approved. sheathed with mill-yon degree F sheathing. the grey stuff at 97cents a foot. not cheap but no sun no dirt no dust no crap to decay them.

p.s. im going to be freeking 55 years OLD this year. the way we look at it.......................this is the last rodeo/ hoo-rah for us. i aint doing this crap again in my life time if AT ALL POSSIBLE! do it once.....................do it right UNTIL FAT LADY SINGS!
